The East Baton Rouge Parish school system is putting together a “wish list” for school construction over the next decade that envisions up to 15 new schools, including both creating new campuses and replacing existing facilities.
Three of the proposed new schools would be at unspecified locations in southeast Baton Rouge, a fast-growing area with few public schools. The other new campuses would involve tearing down and rebuilding current schools, including four popular magnets — Baton Rouge Center for the Visual and Performing Arts (or BRCVPA), Mayfair Lab School, Sherwood Middle School and Westdale Heights Academic Magnet School.
Other schools that might be completely rebuilt include Brownfields Elementary, Glasgow Middle, Southdowns School and Westdale Middle School.
As part of the plan, as many as 11 existing schools could also close.

I'm not paying for all of this.
If i do, i'm moving 5 minutes east into Ascension and will continue to send my kid to the private school in EBR.

This is the first thing I thought of as well. A completely new school hasn't been built in the area in a generation, now all of the sudden they are talking about possibly doing so.

This falls squarely into the category of “If they have been fricking things up the last 10 years, why renew the tax?”
I wouldn’t trust them to do what they promised even if they were forced to comply via gunpoint.

I do not want my future children going to school with the typical East Baton Rouge public school animal. It's like fricking fight club up in there. St. George still has my vote.

What a joke.
School Board promised Central for YEARS for a new middle school. The old was built in the 1930s and 1950s. School Board NEVER delivered on their promise; hence, Central exited stage right.
They also promised Central more stuff from the late 70s on the desegregation and broke those promises also.
Don't believe the BS.

St George includes Gardere area.
