SWB doesn't want to hear anything about fixing up or building new schools in white areas.

This is all just a gimmick to continue the current tax, and to thwart St. George.
The student enrollment is declining now, and yet they want to spend more on new schools.
Families are opting out of the parish, but all they are concerned with is locking down as much tax money as they can.
I voted for the current taxes because I thought they pleas were genuine, that they had a plan for better schools, better teachers, and better discipline.
Boy was I fooled, but never again. They will have to show me something before I vote for any more school taxes or school tax renewals.

No. Although Mayfair Lab is actually a good school. My mom and my sister both work there and my two nephews attend school there. Seems like they all really enjoy it and the families are involved with helping the kids succeed (for the most part).

Nope.
No one is going to take their kid out of private school to go to a new public school in EBR.
I'd consider it in my area, if the school only let kids inside the area of Pecue/Airline/Highland/Perkins, as well as Santa Maria and the Country Club, but that school already exists. It's called St. George, and then Catholic High and St. Josephs.
And that public school i would be proposing would somehow be racists of me b/c the parish doesn't need to spend money helping rich white people out who already pay thousands of dollars a year after taxes to send their kids to school.

I doubt it as long as the same leadership team at EBRPSS stays in place.
They have a 40 year track record of abysmal failure outside of the magnet program and I seriously doubt that any new school will be allowed to try methods that could succeed. These people would rather burn the whole thing down and rule over the ashes than see someone else make things succeed.

The campus was built in 1949 on a fault line. The buildings were borderline unsafe by the 1990s, so they rebuilt a few hundred yards back. New buildings opened in 2003.
Baton Rouge Magnet High, Scotlandville Magnet, and Lee Magnet have been recently updated as well.
The most successful ISD's (Central and Zachary) also have either new or significantly renovated schools as well.

They'd just create a gerrymandered school district like they've done with the rest of the schools. It would be a new school in a nicer area of the city with kids being bused from the hood 40 minutes away

Yep. That has been a major point of criticism in the past and they deserve it.
I actually trust that the school board would at least try to attract more white students. They need the funding and public support.
The St George area has a little bit of leverage in this case. If they want a new STEM school in the Bluebonnet or Siegen area that could siphon off some students from the private schools, they could probably get it.

Define ‘leadership team’. I would think there has been a decent amount of turnover through the years.

Pretty sure that new charter school got approved for building on woman's hospital campus. It's a stem program that supposedly kicks arse. Lord knows how it'll do here when 90% of public school kids are on govt assisted lunch.

When I say “leadership team”, I include the fat count who controls job assignments for all teachers in the parish.
Personnel is policy. If you can’t get good teachers at a school because the good ones aren’t kissing her arse, that is a problem.
