Yep, also had one in Jeanerette and Port Barre.
The Port Barre one is just rotting there. The city uses the parking area to store waste bins and work trucks.

I used to get a boat load of referrals from LWCC for the workers comp injuries. Most were seamstresses with carpal tunnel claims, a few back strains from lifting. I met with LWCC and FOL Corporate to set up a light duty return to work program to minimize exposure and get people back to work once medically released.
As you already know, once those plants closed the "domimo effect" hurt lots of people financially who did business with FOL. My friend had the Kentwood Spring Water and coffee account.

I fear for the BR metro with the total reliance on petro chemical plants. A few too many bad laws or shifting political winds and we become Detroit. All it takes is enough bad legislation to make it no longer cost effective to keep these plants in the US and we're doomed. I really see that as the long term future of the area.

I have still yet to find anything same or next-day delivery. I still have 90% or more of my orders delivered outside of the Prime window I pay for. Call a new warehouse whatever slick name you want to call it, it won't matter.
Well..... They all do different things. First Mile holds the product, middle mile sorts it and last mile delivers it.
The farther you are from the warehouses, the longer delivery time you can expect. Cities like Seattle and Nasvhilel get 2 hour delivery. New Orleans gets next day on products in the warehouse.
It gets more intricate with AMXL (Extra Large), SSD (Sub-Same Day) and Rural / Super Rural.
My guess is you are buying things that are sold on Amazon but not by Amazon, meaning it is shipped FedEx/USPS or it is not on hand in a warehouse. You can filter by shipment date, so there are no surprises on when you'll get it. I am guessing you live outside of a regional delivery span.
All that to say, just get rid of Prime service if you don't like it.

I am hoping that this changes with the massive BTR1 coming online this year at Cortana. It will feed the smaller last mile fulfillment centers in place now and the handful being built in the New Orleans area.

Whoever sells/delivers/preps/services those Ford, GMC, and Mercedes Benz delivery vans are making a killing on the new facility.

I assure you I am closer to a warehouse than the vast majority of people.

I have a habit of looking for ANYTHING that ships same or next day, yet there has been nothing. It doesn't matter if it is sold by Amazon or not. One of the big selling points prior to Amazon building that warehouse in the area was the promise of faster and/or same/next-day delivery. That fell completely short.
All I'm saying is that the promise of a warehouse doesn't mean shite.
Delivery times have gotten longer despite Amazon dumping billions into their warehouse infrastructure. Anecdotal or not, that's just how it is.

Does this mean that same day delivery would be available in this region?

How familiar are you with Amazon's setup in La?
I think Cortana and Carencro are the first miles. The one in Port Allen is middle mile. The one on Rieger Rd in Baton Rouge, the new one in Slidel, and the one in the OP are all last mile.
Is that right?

Very intimately lol
You are correct
Carencro (BTR9) is middle
Laffayette (LFT1) is first mile
DNO2/DNO3 are last mile
Cortana is a DC and is nameless at this time but is what provides items to the FCs

OGs remember having to use that building as a make-shift high school. back in the 2000s.
I was still at JHW, but had some friends that experienced it

Mate, you clearly aren’t up to date on the Abbeville demographic

I’m in Lafayette and order 72 count Community K-Cups every three weeks. My last order took 10 days to get here, and was shipped from Tulsa. Were they out of stock in Port Allen?

That good news.
Do remember when Martin Mills shutdown, my wives family and friends worked there.
Pretty sad that you work most of your career at one place.
Then it shuts down.
Luckily, they were close enough to retirement age to retire.

Maybe it's just a Louisiana thing.
My mom lives NE of Huntsville, TX. At least 10 miles from town on a dirt road. I ordered her some Equal and needles. The Equal was there the next day, and the needles 4 days later(came by USPS).

Semi-related, there was also a sewing plant in Kaplan called Garan.
Semi semi related, Garans had water sprinklers on the roof of the building to try and help keep it cool.
The office had AC but not sure of the plant area. I assumed they did and the sprinklers were just to help.

Back door deliveries will be same day for sure.
