That dog will/won't hunt.

Colleague of mine from Florida never heard it before. She thought it was great and was going to start using.

Are you getting down? (in reference to getting out the car and going into a grocery/convenient store)

My grandmother from New Orleans described the other grandmother who was from the country as "she goes to bed with the chickens". Because country grandmother always went to bed way early.

I'm going to start using this for my wife. Thank you for this.

Anytime somebody got angry around my grandpa, and he didn’t feel like paying attention to it:

“He’ll get glad the same way he got mad.”

"haven't had so much fun since Grandma got her tit caught it the ringer"
My mother used that often.

For you youngsters.....washing machines used to have roller on them to squeeze the water out of the clothes.

My grandma would always say something like “rau smit!” any time she saw us in the house and it meant go play outside. I think it was German or something.

My dad used the phrase "that's a lot of sugar for a dime" quite often.

One of my favorites. Sometimes when my ole lady says she’s mad at me I’ll go “that’s fine. Later you won’t be.”

Not sure I recommend
