no, not necessarily.
Do you have some stories to share? Or are we just going to take your word for it?

Google is your friend. You can find all kinds of horror stories on CAF.

You do realize you don't even have to be charged with anything, much less convicted to have your $$$ seized? Simply having lots of cash on you has been used before as sufficient evidence to justify a seizure.
Now, take it a step further, why stop at cash in your pocket when they can take it directly from your bank account. How much money in your bank account warrants a seizure?
There's a litany of people who have gotten pulled over doing absolutely nothing wrong and robbed on the side of the highway for doing nothing more than having a lot of cash. What's the difference between having cash in your bank account and having it in person?

How paranoid are you of all the things that are out to get you throughout the day?

Most criminals with drugs or cash in the car probably don't spout off.
I've been hassled by the cops (both times in Oklahoma) and I have no criminal record and no tickets on my record.
Other than an occasional toke, I'm very clean living.

What the hell is the point of this? Since when did drug dealers start using gift cards and bank accounts? This sounds sketchy as hell.
I was coming to post this same thing. These cards are not used by tons of dope dealers unless they're getting a card here or there from a customer lol. Even then it's probably not even going to be enough money to even justify the use of these.
Seems like cops should be more worried about building a case using actual evidence rather than trying to steal money off of prepaid cards that are used Because of the Anonymity aspect of them. It's not like most of these will be tracked back to who they are actually being used by.

Yes.

I don't carry lots of cash on me.

Don't know and don't care. Nothing I do is making them just randomly check my bank account.

Many.
Let's start with this one.
quote:
In the East Texas town of Tenaha, the district attorney oversaw aparticularly Dickensian operation: Local cops would stop out-of-town drivers on the flimsiest of pretexts to look for cash, DVD players, cell phones, anything of value. The DA would threaten drivers with criminal charges, even promising to have state authorities remove kids from parents unless they waived rights to the property.
A class-action lawsuit uncovered that the proceeds from this highway robbery—an estimated $3 million between 2006 and 2008—were paying for popcorn machines, donations to a local Baptist church and bonuses for law enforcement key to the operation. Meanwhile, the DA was handing out light sentences to those caught with drugs, or laundered money, in exchange for seizing their assets.

civil asset forfeiture and yes you can find stories about it happening to regular people. And this is with CASH. You start giving policy direct access to people's bank accounts...good lord the amount of abuse that will happen is hard to even fathom.

El-Ali held title to the vehicle while the man paid off the truck.
Simple solution would to be have the vehicle registered in your name. Pretty easy to avoid that.

I doubt that. How much money is on your debit card in your wallet? I bet it's flush based on your new upward movementnin your career.

There is nothing obtuse about it. I wouldn't drive a vehicle that I bought while it was still titled to a stranger. That's asking for trouble.

Maybe you missed the rest of the story where many different people were pulled over to simply rob them by threatening to take their children if they waive their rights to property? That's sick and twisted.
