most of the time I find traffic congested enough that the rule is senseless.
The reason for the rule is to help reduce congestion by letting people pass slower traffic.
If drivers focused more on getting back into the right lane once they've completed a pass the congestion would be reduced.
Source: Germany, where this law is enforced.

Louisiana has this law. It has not changed shitty driver habits one bit. Much like texting while driving laws.
If it were enforced it would. We have lots of laws that would be effective. The problem always seems to be that no one enforced them. I've never heard of anyone being pulled over for riding in the left lane, yet I see it all of the time even when cops are around.

Basically they target big rigs with this law....and it works everywhere, in that capacity

By going the legally posted speed limit?
By not letting people pass you in the passing lane.

Works for Germany.

For people saying it won’t work what are those states’ fines?
Oklahoma’s will be quite a hit for the offender. $236.50 to be exact. I am confident you’ll see HiPo’s enforcing it here in order to levy such a large fine.

I think it is more on enforcement than anything else. Alabama it just isn't enforced at all.

It’s against the law to murder, murder has gone up every year here....
Posted on 10/19/17 at 10:53 am to DoUrden
Yes, lets make it a law... That will stop them.
Posted on 10/19/17 at 10:53 am to DoUrden
This is already a law in man states. It is very rarely enforced.

So what happens when you go the speed limit in the left lane, while holding up traffic?
Ticket?

So now OK passes a law to convenience those who are breaking the law by penalizing those who follow the law.

Why is it so hard to understand that both things make the road a more unsafe place? People cruising in the left lane forcing others behind them to swerve in and out of traffic to pass them up do not have the moral high ground on speeders. They are both contributing to an unsafe environment.

You can bet that the right lane is fricked up the most due to Big Rigs and is like riding on a washboard. My state wants me to stay right the. Fix the damn roads. I will be glad to pass and move right.

What the he'll does this mean? If the speed limit is 70, I cannot do that speed in the left lane? I am supposed to move out of the way to allow others to more easily break the law.
Oh, you are one of the idiots who doesn't understand that the left lane law is not contingent upon the speed limit law. You are also not supposed to steal things. Just because you are not stealing something does not mean that you are entitled to ignore the law telling you to stay out of the left lane when you are not passing.
Do you get it now?

Who stole something?

I agree with this to an extent.

People swerving around people going the speed limit are people who drive dangerously and break the law.
Do these people believe they are above speed limits?
What is so hard about going the speed limit?
