Between this and the current state of health issues, I’m about to flip out.

I was just fine until today —honestly mainly worried about if I’ll be told to work from home which I really can’t as I need to see residents at the nursing home where I work to get the work to do and now I’m flipping out over our dtrs 529 plan. Had just enough leaving us with the last semester to pay for out of pocket — she’s out of state and the third of three. We’d managed it pretty well up until this market crap.

I’m conservative to start with but it’s about to be even more so.

Sorry —I do assessments/laperwork/make sure state regs are met but to do so state regs require that I see the resident, actually lay eyes on them and speak with them. Can get medical records from echart and chart from home.

Can’t visit the resident without being at the home.

The real issue is that most oil and gas companies have too much debt and can’t afford to stop. With the price of crude plummeting they’ll be operating at net losses. We’re fixing to see a lot of businesses (smaller ones first) close shop or go bankrupt.

As usual, our government is years behind on working to diversify our economy to not be as dependent on oil.

Agree to an extent but what are they going to diversify into?

Yep. Learn to code, get a job, a few years later, train your new Indian worker on how to replace you and work for less pay.

Sorry upstream, it's over.

If the rest of the economy is strong, cheap fuel prices are a net benefit. Cheap fuel is cheap transportation, cheap plastic feed stocks means cheaper materials, cheaper petroleum means cheaper energy (nat gas combine cycle producers).

This cheap crude is just shite for new wells in deep water and fracking. This hurts Texas, LA, PA, WV, and OH though.

This may be good to decent times for chemical plants and refineries up and down I-10 and river road and in Lake Chuck, but this is bad news for Lafayette, Houma, and Thibedeaux

Louisiana should have diversified beyond O&G a lonnnnggggg time ago. Hanging your entire state’s economic stability on a volatile industry is incredibly irresponsible.

They have. Haven’t you seen all the damn trial lawyer signs along the interstate?

The state has banked on O&G for decades, has been handcuffed by it, has been betrayed by it, and will continue to be stagnant because of it.

The state has been screwed by the corrupt trial attorneys and their corrupt politicians. Haven’t you seen all the billboards along the interstate?

Is basically just typical LA political/bureaucratic bullshite?

When you couple this with a largely poor school system, state income taxes, property taxes, and sales taxes, it becomes expensive to live here and not attractive.

Plus insurance rates are through the roof because of the trial lawyers suing anyone and everyone for anything and everything.

Nobody is cheering LA tanking because JBE is in the governors house. The only people cheering for the economy tanking are democrats from outside the state.

From someone directly involved in a huge project that went to Texas instead of Louisiana:

Infrastructure
Legal Climate
Education
Access to Skilled Workforce
Screwed-up Antiquated Tax System
Crime

But the final straw was our trial lawyer governor that totally screwed up the state’s incentive program, and told executives he already had enough petrochemical plants. All the while encouraging his GumboPac buddies to keep on suing us.

Student worker. Could only work 20 hour weeks for $7 an hour. Came with free housing, though. Just had to pay utilities.

If LSU goes 8-4 this year it will probably be because of the trial lawyers.
