Receiving emails bright and early this morning from our leadership on how to handle our customers this week and in the near future. This will be an eventful March.

You work in O&G? I would assume this price collapse is expected to be short lived?

How many hilarious f-350 and truck nut jokes are in this thread?

Russia better get their head out of their arse and fix this shite quick. This is gonna hurt way more than just the oilfield boys.

Hmmm to bad there isn't anyone discussing the need to stop being so dependent on this shite. No one will ever learn.

Many people are not getting raises, and are just trying to hang on. If you are in a career with auto raises and bonuses, consider yourself lucky.

Yep. The Alabama Public Service Commission is meeting this morning on a proposal from Alabama Power/Southern Co to build a multi-billion dollar electricity producing facility that will run almost entirely on natural gas. Great timing, but the PSC is a rubber stamp for Alabama Power so I'm sure they'll approve it. Meanwhile, Alabama Power is charging customers that install their own solar power systems.

Start by riding a bike as your means of transportation and using windmills and solar panels for your electricity. We'll see how quick you go back to fossil fuel.

There is no way all of y'all are this stupid.
The USA is the largest producer of Oil and gas in the world.

Not counting the millions of direct jobs think about the millions of indirect jobs. Banks , hedge funds are all in the oil business. It this crashes the stock market will crash.

Which industry brought us out of the 2008 crash ?
Most everyone will feel this one. Buckle UP

Simple economics. Fuel is a cost of doing business so every other industry benefits from cheap fuel.

That's a smart move by Alabama Power. The United States is the Saudi Arabia of natural gas, so it should be plentiful and cheap for the foreseeable future. Solar power dumps power onto the grid but doesn't provide the spinning torque needed for heavy industrial use. It's not a practical solution for future energy needs.

WTF are you babbling about? There is ample discussion of alternative energy and plenty being done to promote it and advance it. But the simple truth is, its not ready yet. Its not competitive enough or reliable enough to compete with fossil fuels. It will get there one day, but until then, fossil fuels is what we have.

Yes I'm in O&G. There have been layoffs happening in the US since Q3/Q4 in anticipation of low oil prices in 2020 but not quite at these low levels. Most companies are sitting on one or two more cost cutting measures which this event will surely trigger. High potential for companies in trouble (Chesapeake looking at you) to file bankruptcy and smaller O&G service companies to fold. Like I mentioned in another post, operators playing in the natural gas fields are hedged in until the end of the year at higher prices, probably in $3 per USD/MMBtu range while natural gas is already under $2 per USD/MMBtu at the end of winter. Many were already expecting this to have a negative impact on the industry end of 2020 and into 2021.

It will be a rough ride for US O&G for the next 12 plus months.

Yes and it’s too early to tell how long this will last.
Most thought the downturn we are in now would be short lived.

I interviewed for a position overseas in Oman 2 weeks ago. I'm waiting on my paperwork to come through. I'm just hoping this doesn't throw a wrench in those plans.
