Do you realize O&G companies produce other consumables? You save $3 a fill up but it costs you an extra $4 to wash your clothes. Lower profits on one side means higher on the other.

The price of a gallon of gas is comprised of ~50% crude oil, the rest is made up of other costs like taxes, refining, and marketing.

Maybe Louisiana can finally stop being a banana republic for the oil and gas industry. It'll hurt for while, but Louisiana will be better for it in the long run.

It's weird how socialist baws become when it comes to O&G.
We must pay more for oil-derived products in order to fund jobs? Like it's a right to have an O&G extraction job?
Imagine this scenario:
We pay every baw that works in upstream O&G 90% of their salary no matter what. If they work they get that 90% plus whatever they normally make. We could fully fund this program by adding an 17 cent tax on gasoline, and that's not even factoring in all the other products that are made from oil.
So.. if Americans get to pay 25 cents a gallon less for gas, which adds up to $14.3b a year in extra disposable income.. and they pay less for things made out of plastic, for airplane flights, for shipping, clothes, couches, tires, etc then how is that not a net positive for America?
You guys are falling for the broken window fallacy big time.
