Coal really is not going to come back in any real fashion.

I don't think it's "coming back," but I do think think there will be lesser air regs on coal powered power plants.

Roughly 1/3 of our nation's electricity comes from coal powered power plants. Coal is actually a clean fuel now due to scrubbers, but the libs are trying to kill them due to PAC's lining the dems pockets with campaign money.

POTUS doesn't affect the price of oil. It's a global commodity, although dominated by OPEC.

Please explain.

If we had a floor on domestic oil of about $60, we would invest the money necessary to close the gap between consumption and domestic production. We would be energy independent in less than 10 years. It would eliminate 1/3 of our trade deficit. It's not difficult to grasp.

agreed.

we are the largest consumer of oil in the world.

lets use that leverage to put people back to work, become energy independent, grow our technology, continue to export.

Coal is not making a comeback. Rand Paul was running a commercial here locally where she said she was putting coal businesses and coal minors out of business.

Why would we want to prop up an industry. I thought Repubulicans like the open market.

Plus if you have a floor domestic producers would just pump till we are overflowing with oil.

This is a dumb idea.

I'm not an insider, but how much of a cost factor are regulations in production and sales?

Well gasoline has state transport tariffs. Taxes individual to the state. You can imagine which states have the highest taxes.

Price floor is a dumb idea. But a tarriff on oil being imported should be explored.

Give US companies the first crack at the US market.

If they still can't get the cost below Saudis then it is what it is.

Dumber than sending $100 billion to Venezuela and Saudi Arabia every year?

Trump can't control the price of oil but he can help release a ton of land for exploration and that will spur at least some kind of activity and also allow fields with a lower break even point than deep water to be explored.

We have more oil and gas pumping out of the ground than we know what to do with and wells just sitting to wait for the prices to go up.
Why do we need to open more land for drilling right now?
