The rabbit one provokes discussion. As someone mentioned, if it’s a cooking show, is it okay? Those scenarios should be used to help students engage in critical thinking and to use concrete details and commentary to argue a position. Most students would obviously say “no way” to killing the rabbit, but if one brings up the cooking show, then you’ve got a debate going.

Not saying it’s appropriate for 10th graders, but that’s the point of the incest question as well.

That’s why the birth control qualifier is thrown in. To preempt any objections based on a brother and sister getting pregnant.

I get the point of it but it’s more of an OT question than one for high schoolers. I would say it wouldn’t provoke discussion because teenagers don’t want to talk about sex with their teachers and they also really don’t want to think about sex with their siblings.

The article is implying that the whole thing was inappropriate. Outside of the incest question, I’m not sure I agree. I’ll need to read through the other questions later.

Agreed. IMO it's more appropriate for college-aged students or older.

Same. It seems many of the questions were your standard moral dilemma scenarios. I think people saw the incest one and just flipped out. I don't think this teacher had any sort of deviant or ulterior motive. I think she was just trying to get her students' attention and get them thinking. But I don't think she exercised a great deal of prudence in her approach.

So, she got fired for asking students to decide what they thought was moral?

The parents must not have liked their kids' answers.

I don’t see the issue. Other than American pussys over-reacting to everything.

I don't really see an issue with it other than she's asking very personal opinions and it shouldn't be forced upon the students to take. Or it should have been anonymous. Yeah it's bizzare, oddball shite, but high schoolers these days are used to seeing and posting oddball shite on social media.

If Lafayette public library can host tranny's reading to tots....

What do you think about the gal from Slidell getting fired for going off on Kapernick?

As annoying as Kapernick is to me, the classroom is not the place.

In the hiring process. FIFY.

At this point every teacher out there should be psych evaluated annually. They’re all fricking looney.

This doesn't seem like a fireable offense, unless her grading revealed she was cool with with incest but not hunting shows or something.

Eta
The above is pending the age of the students.

Its funny because its like she was trying to figure out if she had a few fricked up kids in her class.. And that the reason for it could have been more sinister than wanting to be aware of the type of kids she is dealing with.

Rabbit is delicious!

If you were killing it and skinning it for a cooking show, why would that not be OK?

Why would the parents be so concerned unless they we hiding something. Maybe a little too close in their family so they don’t want kids answering the questions in a way that would raise suspicion?

This is actually a fairly classic survey question for researchers in fields such as moral psychology. I’m guessing this teacher got these questions from a book or research paper.
Yep. I think she took them from Jonathan Haidt's book The Righteous Mind. Totally worthwhile read, btw. Very enlightening.

while that sounds absurd and "not ok" to us, that is where we are headed.

10 years ago, the thought of allowing 40 year old men to go in the restroom with underage girls seemed absurd.
