Cat 4 would be catastrophic. I hope that it doesn't get anywhere near that.

I heard that south Texas needs some rain, but to hell with that storm surge, flooding, at 120+ mph winds.

I don't understand how people saw what Katrina did and still feel the need to stay.

I talked to a few friends in Rockport yesterday that had decided to stay. I told them they would regret it. There hasn't been a major storm in this area in like 100 years so most of the folks don't know what it's like. Just hope everyone makes it that stays. Afraid there are going to be many deaths related to drownings because people thought they could ride it out.

I saw first hand what a strong storm does to areas like CC, those staying are in for a dreadful night. Went over to Santa Rosa island for coastal studies class after Opal. She absolutely destroyed it, water line was above light switches on 2nd floor rooms in condos.

The best was the hooters building sitting in middle of sound. Wouldn't be surprised if Island gets a couple new cuts were a street once was.

All of my In-Laws live in or near Corpus, Victoria, or Port Lavaca. They shut the plants down in Port Lavaca. They are expecting the worst, hoping for the best. Evacuated to family in San Antonio.

It's been called that for at LEAST the last 40 years. That's its official nickname. The city is drained by, and built around 5 bayous.

I drove the coast of southern Mississippi about a month after Katrina. It was pretty fricking sobering. South Padre Island is about to be done if the forecasts are right.

Not sure about balls of steel - was thinking more "brains of shite"!

Gonna be rough running down there to help them out from Houston.
