worried that they are downplaying the ice accumulations in the BR area too much

Downplaying weather would be the total opposite of what they typically do.

Absolutely. It isn't likely to be very serious here. Yea, it's raining. It's all 50* outside and not scheduled to be below freezing until after midnight. They did wiff on the amount of rain it looks like.

Some locals are posting measurements that are 8+ inches though I'm not sure how accurate they are

As hard as it's been snowing and how it keeps doing it I believe it

Where are you located? I’m not educated enough to know if it’ll get serious in the baton rouge area or not BUT it is 44° here. When it was supposed to be 50 two hours ago. I assume this is about as warm as it’s going to get and the freeze line has been projected by nearly every model to arrive here around 6:00ish, not after midnight.

That’s amazing. The radar since yesterday makes it look like y’all have 2 ft of snow.

I do have about 2’ tall piles of sleet on the ground underneath the valleys of my roof. It looks like a waterfall of sleet pellets flowing off the roof. I can still see most of the grass in the yard away from the roof line.

I'll be sure to tell the engineer running the DOTD yard in EBR. He's the one who said it. And I'm pretty sure Josh was talking to Frank Dukes at the time.

I havent been able to track much, how will things look for this afternoon and evening?

Were the 4 downvotes an indication that I-10 to Houston from 3pm to 8pm is a bad idea?

Wintry mix from West Houston to the Louisiana state line currently. Numerous road closures in Houston already. I wouldn’t make the drive, personally

As someone who was stuck in Austin for that freeze in 2021, either get ahead of the weather or wait until it totally subsides. Trying to drive through it is a "play stupid games" move.
