Use of ASAP in an email

Why?

I have no idea. It is an instant shift delete. If you type out "as soon as possible" it doesn't bother me.

99% of the time this is caused by someone working from home with either shitty internet service in general or they haven’t reset their router in lord knows how long.

I'm the office IT "go to guy". During Covid(and working from home), I was asked to drive to a few employees homes to see why they couldn't connect to their internet. My supervisor told them "absolutely not" and that they needed to call their ISP and see what the issue was.

One of them didn't even HAVE internet and just thought that her laptop would magically connect wherever she was.

Also buzzwords in meetings. Circling back to focus on synergy anyone?

Speaking of buzzwords, there is a guy in my group that has what has to be a nervous tic whenever he is having to speak or give a presentation. He starts saying “likeisay” over and over. It happens literally anytime he’s doing more than speaking one on one to a single person. One time I kept count and in a presentation lasting a little under 10 minutes, he said “likeisay” close to 40 times.

When someone messages me a reminder and copies half the building.

The random person who suddenly wants to tell me what they did all of last weekend after hours while i'm trying to get stuff done. If i'm working late it's because i'm really busy.

When management wants to have a meeting about a meeting and nothing get's done so we have to follow up with it tomorrow on a Teams call.

On the other end of the spectrum, when someone sends a report out and BCCs all recipients, and missed half the people that should receive it, then everyone forwards to everyone else.

I have a coworker who farts all day long and when she has to drop a deuce, she goes into the mens. The men and women have one bathroom each side by side and it smells like the dumpster outside a Chinese buffet in the middle of July

At my old (toxic) workplace, my biggest pet peeve was the "hall monitor" Karen in my office that kept tabs on when I was there and kissed our supervisor's arse, having no issue making me look bad unnecessarily to my supervisor.

If our work doesn't overlap, I'm never really keeping tabs on what my coworkers are doing and certainly not what time they're arriving in the morning. Some people need to mind their own business, especially because my clients had nothing but good things to say about me.

Holy shite. The fact took the time to type all that out tells me you have a visceral hatred of both boomers and reply all emails.

FWIW, I’m with you on the email thing. Sadly my job requires being in a ton of email chains on a daily basis. Last May when we went on a seven day cruise, I bought the data package just so I could sit down for a while each morning to stay on top of emails. I rather do that than spend my vacation dreading coming back to a Mount Everest of an inbox that would take another week just to catch up on.

Nepotism, whether it's the dumbass spouse of the owner or a high-level manager's useless kid.

I once saw the PD perp-walk from the office the untouchable kid of a manager for dealing drugs at work.

Employees that e-mail them immediately walk to your door and ask, "did you see my e-mail?"

Worked with two guys that would race each other every morning to get this one parking spot in the corner of the lot, under a tree. Went from them showing up 20 minutes early to 40 minutes to an hour just to park under that tree. Then one of the Dumbarses complained to management about the other one always taking "his spot." So the tree got cut down.
