The whole problem with the idea is this:
The only reason someone would want to trade services it is because they have no money. And the only reason they'd have no money is because they are lazy or have no skills. And if they are lazy or have no skills you wouldn't hire them to do whatever service they are offering to trade in the first place.

Some logic is just irrefutable.

The problem with bartering is if you need or want something, you are supposed to offer 2-3x if not more in value if you can’t bring cash. Let’s say his seminars are $4,000/ day and he wants $4,000 tickets, that’s a shite trade. If I wanted that I’d pay him for it. Same thing as the tickets. No one wants his seminar 100% or they’d pay for his seminar. They maybe want it 50% but more likely 10 or 20%.

As said, if you are so good you pay in cash for the tickets.

Most of these are self inflated values.

My dad’s a bee keeper. He’s dumb but retired. He charges $400 to remove bees, he once took a trade for you pick strawberries for 4 flats. Value was like $80. I still bust his balls. Should have been like 40 flats for $800. Take it or leave it.

My buddy is an arborist. He’ll consider trades. But it’s absurdly on his size. He took 2 Honda generators for a half days work, he normally gets around $1400/ day. So he got $2000ish for $800 of his time.

Otherwise, pay cash.

I organized an LLC in exchange for the guy framing two artworks. That was a clean trade. I even paid the filing fees. He did a great job on the art.

I would think he would want to this offer to be publicized as much as possible. Specifically on this website. You aren’t doing him any favors by removing his information.

I’m waiting for the moment when it starts to dawn on everyone that this was the whole point of his post. The tickets are irrelevant outside of an excuse to talk about what he sells, though I’m sure he will take the tickets if he can get them. Ironically, all of this clowning him is proof that his marketing strategy worked.

Watching you learn what the barter system is in this thread is kind of entertaining

Yeah, well this cat is going to find out that the barter system isn't going to help him here.

Do you care to weigh in on if what he's offering is going to be successful in getting what he wants given your deep understanding of the barter system?

Or maybe give some examples of where your varying value of time and experience has been successful in bartering?

Run this by Mingo first. He's the bartering expert in this thread.

I agree with your take as well as the OP. I would think for your two examples, they aren't the ones that are hard up, and cash is more valuable than a skill or product they might receive.

Haha. Standard Mingo. You won't ever back up a thing.

So is old boy going to get his tickets or not?

Great. Thank you.

I say he fails miserably. It's a bad deal under anybody's definition of bartering.

It was $380 when I posted that yesterday. Looks like someone snatched up the cheapest ones. Just checked at $430 is the cheapest for 4 together.
