My company did this last month. I volunteered but it didn't happen. They gave two weeks of pay for every year of service. I have 33 years invested. Rumor has it that it will happen again in the 4th quarter. I'm praying.

Call it what you want but a 501c3 does not have investors.

It would be more accurate to rename the tax term "non-profit" to "non-tax paying" entity, it would be clearer.
Non-profit entities absolutely have owners and stakeholders who profit from the lack of pesky tax obligations real businesses face (e.g. HCA).

They are offering bonuses to managers who are being laid off to take direct patient care positions.

They call them “partnerships”

My dad had something similar…..nearing retirement and had 35 years with company. They were offering one month salary for every year of service. He wasn’t selected either and retired

That's gotta be for the upper crust folks. The low level employees won't get anything other than an escort out of the building.
Wrong… unless you consider nurse supervisors “upper crust.”

When do we start cheering for oilfield workers getting laid off?
Maybe attorneys?
How about you?

Not every nursing unit manages inpatient hospital beds.
You can be in management, taking care of patients, and not have room assignments. Think a little harder. Think procedural areas.

Someone is making money there. And being protected. It isn’t the healthcare workers being protected.
During lockdown when they worked, their hours were cut short and forced to use pto hours vs less pay. I know people who work with patients and are treated like crap. And the pay sucks. These are people with degrees. Maybe 2 degrees. Guarantee you it isn’t fat middle mgmt ., being let go.

What's a clinician in your definition? Physician ? NP? PA? I tend to use those terms the same way as I use 'provider'
Asking because seems like they kept all of those. The providers would just go straight to OLOL or LCMC or open up competition anyways.
They did however fire a lot of nurses in admin. Escorted off in tears etc. Dragged a couple out from what I heard.
They were useless anyway. You don't need two nurses running around auditing people for hand hygiene lmao.

Sorry- it’s shorthand for “purchased board position that receives a salary/bonus instead of dividend”

My guess a clinician is personnel who works with patients in the medial sense? Idk. It was their word, not mine. I know the one let go isn’t a nurse, but worked in another field and had patients. I think the 6 am email is the most sickening. It’s good to cut the fat and get rid of useless paper pushers. But it’s sad to see “clinicians” who care about their patients and worked hard let go. My heart hurts for them.

They're also demoting many people from leadership/director positions back into some kind of manager or supervisor role, where they'll presumably be asked to attend 6 hours of meetings every day like they did as a leader, while also taking patients on the floor
