Jutland was really interesting as the only major naval engagement.

It was a terrible war, maybe even more terrible for soldiers than WWII although that's splitting hairs.
Gas, trench warfare, more primitive support technology (medicine, food, clothing, etc.)
The word "favorite" in the thread title should be changed to "interesting" or the like. There can be no favorite legitimized murders of innocents.
Verdun is stupefying to see. They have a brand new visitor center there and the 1930s era Ossuary is numbing. The scale & scope of the battle is apparent as you drive around the huge area.

Oh, and for whoever asked about movies - Not sure other than those already mentioned. But for reading, Hemingway had some pretty good stuff on the Italian/Austrian front.

I don't think you can objectively make the argument that WW1 was really a "good guys vs. bad guys" sort of conflict.
It was more of an "boys and men thrown into the meat grinder vs. other boys and men thrown into a meat grinder."
