The key here is ensuring regulators will stay away from them. Imagine how many former Politicians, Lobbyists etc will be working there now.

Nashville is the new Austin for those people. They'd be ecstatic.

If you want to run a monopoly you will need to have significant operations (and operatives) in DC.

We've been pulling people from LA, Chicago, NYC, Seattle, the Bay and everyone absolutely loves this place.

Only an idiot wouldn't move to Nashville from one of those places.

You literally get a 10% bump just moving from any state on the income tax and they don't make it up the way Florida and Texas do on sales and property tax. It's incredible really. People complain about housing prices but median house is still like $300k and that's including the HEAVILY skewed Williamson county which has some of the more impressive properties in the country with all the entertainment money.

People here bitch about 9% sales tax. It was 9.25% in Fayetteville Arkansas when I graduated in 2012. Arkansas also has 4% state income I believe.

As a current Arlington homeowner,
own in Fairfax county right near Arlington and wife and I have been discussing moving.

If this happens and home prices start to get even dumber then we're cashing out and moving away

Baton Rouge has 9.45% Sales Tax, pretty high property taxes and 6% income tax rate.

Why do I live here?

What a surprise, they are looking at two locations with some of the best public transit in America (despite the DC Metro sucking lately), crazy expensive (but robust) housing markets and multiple airport options.

People ignored the public transit piece of their proposal, but that matters a lot when you are creating tens of thousands of jobs.

Start buying property and open up an apartment complex

Agreed, be we would have had a much better shot at landing Amazon if there were a public transportation solution in place...
