What is crazy about that video is that it was taken while one assumes the shooter is still right there in the crowd. They were on a subway train that was moving. Where did he go until it stopped? The video starts when the train stops so he had to be right there.
Which makes it strange that people just step out of the train car and stand there. I would be hauling arse out of the station. Where did he go?

If they find him he shouldn’t resist arrest because it happened in NYC so he could just get a fine and probation.

I’ll hope that investigators are legitimately not convinced of the original description and therefore asked the news teams to take down the parts of the description they’re unsure about.
The reality is probably not that though

It's not terrorism
Just a "coordinated attack" (per NYPD) by a black dude who put on a gas mask, threw smoke and opened fire at a public transit, perhaps hitting a high number of asians in a city where black on asian hate crimes are spiking

Both of these are what I'm thinking.
It's possible they went with the description given by one person(can be unreliable during very traumatic moments) and someone else later on gave a different description.
But it's also very likely the reason is what we're all thinking.
