NYC is only now starting to disinfect the subways?

Why wasn’t this like the first thing to address? It’s the main way to get infected
This seems negligent to me.
The city of New Orleans has been sending tactical disinfection response units to major congregating areas every day since early April

New York City is suspending 24-hour subway service to start disinfecting subway cars overnight.

Are you surprised? It's NYC run by a fricking idiot.

They've been disinfecting them to various degrees since 2-3 weeks before there were even shutdowns.
The difference is that they are now closing them completely for a few hours every night for even more thorough cleaning.

Didn't they say in February they were doing that?

What good is disinfecting a subway car after a handful of passengers have ridden on it?

Yeah, even by the end of February, it was hard to breathe in the subway due to how strong the bleach smell was.
The OP just misunderstood that completely closing the entire system for hours every night is just an extreme new level of cleaning.

Blame CNBC for the weirdly-worded headline then.

Aren't you the same one that melted down for pages without even understanding that Orthodox Hasidic Jews in NYC have been staging huge, jam packed, religious gatherings all during the shutdown.
Maybe jumping overboard to ignorant conclusions could be your fault.

Have you seen the people who ride the subways overnight? It would make more sense to not bother shutting them down and just walk through spraying everything and everyone in those cars at 4 am.

Meh. These are the same f king idiots that forced nursing homes into taking back Covid patients after they were released from the hospital

Lol what? They've been doing this for weeks. There are even videos of it. I hate de Blasio, but this is blatant fake news.

That explains it.

Proving that most of what John Rocker said about it was true.

Now you know why the NYC area has ~30% of the deaths from covid-19.

People with common sense will not be hired by any government official in NY.

Nothing about what you posted says they are “only now starting to disinfect the subways.”
Perhaps they are suspending the subways for 24 hours for a much deeper disinfection? It also says to “start disinfecting overnight.” So they may be implementing a new schedule.
I promise you, they’re not just now cleaning the subways. If you think that, you're a fricking moron.

Don't worry about it
Andrew Cuomo has done the best job of anyone in the country
The more deaths the better according to Democrats

So is it safe for Insta-idiots to lick the poles again?

Everyone needs to read that again. The mayor of NOLA acted more responsibly than the mayor of the most important city in the world.
The subways should have been shut down months ago.

Yes, because factors like population, density, and being one of if not the most internationally travelled places in the world aren’t important, right? I’m sure that the city has just said “hey let’s shut down the city but not bother with public transit!”
Jesus Christ some of you are so hell bent on hating people that think differently than you that you lose all common sense and rationale.

Glad I don't have this job.

Shut down subways? So no nurses or other health care workers can get to their place of employment? It’s not like shutting down the streetcar in New Orleans. People actually commute on the subway.
