Maybe he still considered him a threat. Isn't that how police are trained? Shoot until there is no longer a threat?

If a cop did what the shooter in this video did, he’d be charged with murder and hopefully would be strung up.

That looks bad, I would need a judge to tell me the law.

But 1., there was plenty of time to put it in reverse and he did not, he was getting ready. I don’t think that is necessarily bad but it does look as if he was set on killing him

2. we don’t know the interaction prior w these two. I would like to know that.

If he didn’t double tap the guy but rather fired at the guys chest and kept firing as the guy turned and hit him in the back, that’s still self defense to me. Especially defending his family.

Where was this case?

Tuscumbia, AL I believe. That or Sheffield.

The problem was from my understanding was he was threatening them with a knife by all reports from witnesses. But the issue was my friend shot him at least a few times in the back as he retreated. At least that's what I was told.

Chris Martin is his name. I'll see if I can find an article.

Not much detail... but I'm sure you can find more if you look.

quote:

COLBERT COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - The man taken into custody following an altercation that turned deadly has been formally charged with murder.

James Christopher Martin was charged with murder in the shooting death of Thomas Grant Campbell.

Authorities said Campbell and Martin got into an altercation at a Sheffield home on Saturday. According to witness statements, Campbell then held a woman at knife point in front of two children. One of the children asked Campbell to let their mother go and when he did, that's when witnesses said Martin shot him.

Campbell was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Martin's bond has been set at $100,000.

Now that's an interesting twist

2 sides to this.

If you get out your vehicle with a bat and run up on another driver and get smoked, that’s your own dang fault. You earned getting shot.

However, after the guy takes off running and then you walk up to the guy and execute him, well that just took it from self defense to murder.
yep both of these guys are stupid AF. Even read in comments guy with the bat had 2 kids in the car which make his actions that much worse. Guy with the gun had a right to defend himself, but he decided he would rather a murder charge.

COLBERT COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – After an hour of deliberations Wednesday morning, a jury found James Christopher Martin guilty of manslaughter.

Martin was charged with the shooting death of Grant Campbell in November of 2013.  His trial began last week.

Campbell was shot six times.  Three of those were in the chest.  Defense attorney Tim Case argued Martin was acting in defense when Campbell was killed.

A lot of FA in that video

going to be a lot of FO too.

Not sure what the laws are wherever this took place but the shooter went probably from self defense to murder in less than 2 seconds.

Looks like two idiots will be off the streets.

I agree. and i'm not saying he shouldn't be charged with some type of manslaughter for it.
I"m just saying i don't care that he finished him off.
And if this guy has no prior criminal history, then he shouldn't spend a day in jail for this.

didn't stop out of emotion at the time.
This is the thing that interests me as well with the OP. Those last couple of shots seemed personal.

I'd be interested to find out if they had a history. I'm guessing so.

After the bozo with the shirt runs off and falls already being hit, coming up and shooting him with a finishing shot is going to cost this bastard many years in prison.

This isn't a Western you're making. I'm guessing he gets 10-20 years.

Potato logic. Most serial killers don't have "prior criminal history".

He was fine legally, until he strutted over to the fat slob who was already on his stomach and executed him. Was no longer self defense.

b/c it was a heat of the moment interaction.
Just like that last punch to the head after someone gets knocked out. No you shouldn't do it, but in the heat of the moment it's reasonable to expect it to happen sometimes. Doesn't mean it shouldn't be punished or that it's ok in the eyes of the law.

This was a normal guy going about his day when some a-hole decides to run him off the road and then threaten him with a fricking bat. frick that guy, he got what he deserved. Like i said, he should be charged with something extra for those finishing shots, i just don't think this shooter, assuming he's not a career criminal, is a danger to society, and should not have his life ruined b/c this arse hat wanted to beat him with a bat over some road rage.

If Plauche can blast a guy as retaliation and not spend a day in jail, then neither should this guy, and i'd prefer that kind of justice in America.

About 10 minutes ago I was getting ready to turn into a parking spot that would have been super simple because of my angle. I noticed the traffic was blocked from the other side. What I didn’t see at the time was some old lady was behind a car coming from a 90° different direction and had their blinker on to turn in. I had a real easy shot to park and hadn’t even look noticed her, so I pulled in. I was about half way in when I looked to my left and saw the old biddy flailing about. I looked closer and I could see she was cursing me out and ranting. I gestured like “it’s gonna be OK. Everything’s alright.” Then I proceeded to pull out so she could have the spot and parked less than 10 feet away.

Yeah I know CSB… but people are unhinged AF nowadays.

He definitely made sure the threat was over.
