I have seen a lot of car trains on 77 south of Refugio texas the last 25 years. They are timid drivers, staying in the right lane at 60 mph. They are an important link in the recycle culture. I have no problem with them. As for those complaining traffic violations, look at your drive today, did you beat a stop light, roll a stop sign, 5 miles over the limit, fail to signal. if so you are no better.

i sold my old mazda pickup to one of these crews but trust me that truck had done its job stateside. i like to think it's having a nice second life (really third or fourth) on some farm in nicaragua.

Seems like something our resident LA Troopers would target on I-10 West.

They used to have a mission of "the protect and to serve". Now it's more like "to collect and serve".

If they write any tickets, do you think that they would ever get paid.

It is horseshite.

I pull a 3500# Jeep with my RV. I use a,10K towbar, a safety chains, supplemental brake system in the Jeep, and a breakaway brake.

These idiots have none of that, and cops let that half-assed shite roll on.

Nothing happens until it does.

They’re usually buying totaled cars from the insurance auction place in Frost. A lot of time they’re water damaged so they can’t get re-titled here with a salvage title but they don’t really have that much damage.

In 2004 or so, a guy I went to HS with was killed by one on I-10. He was travelling eastbound and a westbound car came disconnected, crossed the median, and hit him head on.

ICE does not stop them because they’ve been pulled over plenty of times years and over the years and their paperwork is always legit.

Towing too much weight or such might be an issue, but nobody ever gets pulled over for that kind of stuff.

I wonder if some of these are self-deporting. They would get the money from Trump to be able to travel where they are going.

Is that supposed to make anybody feel better? There are much safer ways to tow vehicles that don’t endanger other drivers. Also, we all know these schmucks don’t carry insurance. Probably a fake license too. These “workers” are leeching off society. Get them TF out. Law enforcement is lazy if they don’t want to deal with the trash when lives are at stake.

Two posters know people killed by these bums. And this isn’t a large segment of the driving population.

These caravans are DANGEROUS. Sheesh.

Bad comparison. I’m not driving 10 tons worth of metal strung together with bungee cords, with worn-out brake pads and bald eagle tires.

Perhaps, but that is a judgment call, and writing that ticket requires them to weigh the vehicles. That is probably why they typically do nothing about it.

Or, like every other bullshite stop, they can just say they suspect it is too heavy then ask for DL and reg and then they are busted.

Don't kid yourself friend: they have marching orders.

They’ve been told do not stop., gas’s cans are carried along with the caravan.., stopping at a truck stop would probably get them pulled over

Most of them aren't Mexicans. Most are Guatemalan. They come in legally and buy junk cars at auction.

They get robbed on their way home through Mexico. They probably make it home with only half the junk they started with after the cartels take their cut.

There is context involved in what you responded to. I would explain but it seems pointless.

Also, we all know these schmucks don’t carry insurance.

I'm amazed at the things people know. You'd probably be amazed at the things liberals know about people like you and me.

obably a fake license too.

Based on what, exactly?

These “workers” are leeching off society.

Maybe, maybe not. Maybe you are, maybe I am. Someone probably "knows" the answer to that.

Get them TF out. Law enforcement is lazy if they don’t want to deal with the trash when lives are at stake.

Law enforcement is sometimes lazy, but they also have to work within the parameters of the law, and we should all want that.

Just an old man, and again, there was context you are ignoring in my response.

And I would be all for Louisiana enacting a law prohibiting towing more than one car.

Maybe. Not everyone who looks Mexican is without a license and registration.

From whom? I think the primary marching order for LSP is to write tickets that bring in revenue; those probably don't look like revenue generators.

Its a shitload of Mexicans running an endless caravan of clapped out crap cross country with the bare arse minimum of half of the legal shite required and being untouchable while doing it.
then the auctions where the cars are bought need to be stopped

Or maybe different rules, like the cars can only be sold to American citizens or one car per person, etc.

I had several friends shot and killed in middle and high school, I’m not crying about taking guns away. At least these guys are trying to work.

You're telling me they have adequate insurance?

That would knock my socks off. There ain't no way.
