and it doesn't matter. Money is money. $1000 from someone who doesn't give a frick is still worth more than $500 from someone who truly cares.

What a bitchy way to frame it.

ETA - it took all of one page for that bitchy post to be one-upped. Well done OT.

Good thing they didn't try to dump thousands of pounds of water on those stone ceiling vaults.

I wish I could have seen the reaction of the fire fighters in France when they heard about Trump's tweet telling them to use water tankers.

It is a shame to see such a beautiful piece of history destroyed, but it did produce one really cool picture.

It is really amazing that the alter and crucifix survived the fire, and that nobody was killed.

to the Paris firefighters who were able to save the structure and the historic artwork inside. I do not know if I would have had the balls to run into a burning building to save a piece of artwork. A human being or a dog (or at least my dog) yes, but artwork IDK.

May not be out of the woods yet. They will have to inspect that stone to see what effect the heat had on it.

Depends on what that piece of artwork means.

Notre Dame really isn't filled with artwork that started off as artwork. It's filled with religious relics and each has meaning to those who believe in their religion.

With time, some became famous as artwork.

But they are there, in Notre Dame, because they were important for the religion. Not because someone has declared them to be art.

I can see any fireman who truly believes going in to save part of his and his family's heritage.

(The man who saved the crown of thorns had been visible as a man of the cloth recently when he ministered to the Bataclan victims.)

It’s not a miracle, the fire just didn’t make it down that far because of all the stone
