If it turns out to be an accident by one of the construction companies, the management and owners will be criminally prosecuted.

I'd be extremely interested to hear how it started if it turned out to be construction related. I'd like to see the procedures in place for any hot work

Deleted in deference to SlowFloPro, who beat me to it and did it better.

this is why i have a hard time believing it is construction related. how does that even happen?

you'd have to be a truly stupid motherfricker to accidentally set a church on fire. were they welding or something?

and how does a terrorist get access to the roof of one of the most famous buildings in the world without being noticed?

You take the stairs since there is no escalator. Hundreds of tourists go onto the roof everyday at Notre Dame.

The US has seen a dramatic rise in anti semitism since 2016,are you going to blame that on the Muslims or Mexicans?

There has been no link established to this fire and any deliberate act. The fact that construction is going on where it started makes that an obvious guess, but it's still too early to jump to conclusions.

Yet here you are with the story of a cover-up.

Don't underestimate how much extreme Muslims despise Christianity and especially Catholicism.

I don't, my point was why wouldn't someone set a bomb off in the church or something similar.

some reports that the north rose window may have survived.

only 2/3 of the roof destroyed as of now, which is remarkably good news. hopefully that report of the vault collapsing is false.

Yeah, I'm not sure what their standard safety practices are in Europe, but if it is construction related, my money would be on an electrical related incident

Most of this dramatic rise consists of hoaxes, which the SPLC and ADL don't filter out of their stats.

Notre Dame isn't just any "empty church".

Burning down one of the most important religious buildings on Earth is a pretty powerful message

Same. It would also be pretty damn easy to get a quick confirmation if this were the case. There would have been multiple people that would have seen it happen.

One positive is this gives people all over social media an opportunity to post pictures of themselves in front of the cathedral from the time they visited.

Social media is full on narcissism

Hard to get bomb making supplies. Easier to get a can of gasoline and some matches.

Just like it’s been occurring all over France in the last few weeks
