This is the 3rd time this has happened to me and it never fails to go out on the weekend. They will be coming out tomorrow morning to fix the problem.

It is the same thing with smoke detectors. The battery always goes bad between 2am and 3 am.

Don't call one hour air. Anybody else. They will charge you double what another company will

Should've bought a better house. Earlier today I stopped by my farm and discovered last couple months the AC was off. A steamy 79 degrees inside, at noon, in Florida.

We've had a power surge a few weeks ago that blew out the compressor on new unit. Got it fixed under warranty. Yesterday we had another surge and one of the units started sounding weird so I turned it off. It started blowing hot air when I turned it back on. I turned it back off and waited a while. Luckly the compressor kicked back on when I turned it back on. Is it common for surges to blow out compressors?

Make sure it's not something simple like the overflow pan full of water. Siphon that out into a bucket if it is. Might have a gunked up condensate line. At least check that.

Definitely worth at least taking a look at. I had my A/C go out twice in my old house but both times I was able to fix it myself and save $100’s. One of those times I was able to rig a switch to where I could at least let it run and cool the house off, then go outside and pull the wire to shut it down. A couple of cycles of that at least made it bearable until Monday. I then ordered the part for $12 and replace it myself.

Point being, you may be able to rig a temporary solution.

That happened to me several weeks ago when we had that heat wave. It happened on a Thursday. They needed to order a part and it wouldn’t be in until Monday. They came out to fix it on Tuesday. 5 days without ac during the hottest part of the year.

Keep a run capacitor and a contactor (electrical relay switch) as spares. In many cases, it’s one of those that fails. They are about $15 - $20 each.
