Or can you use both hands.

It's was posted as a joke, but they really do exist.

I know. I was keeping the joke going since I am a left handed.

A small fuel blivet or can of about 50ga and a couple small generators would probably be more helpful.

This do look pretty cool, however

1. Were the chainsaws distributed with “equity”?

2. FEMA certainly me strategic goal #2 “mitigating climate change” with this decision.

A gas generator can use the same amount of gas to run and charge a chainsaw.. A gas generator AND a gas chainsaw, uses what little gas that area has

If you asked Harris this question, this would be her answer. Country in trouble

I mean, to be fair they probably don't have fuel either.

But they definitely don’t have electricity. And in order to get electricity, they need to clear the roads, with chainsaws.

You can bring fuel in boxes, they sell it right next to the gas powered lawn equipment.

This is simply the government giving someone a favorable contract to provide something, but not necessarily what people need. And it’s exactly why we have so much debt, spending to earn favor.

Think I saw a lot of cars that can't be driven. I'd be draining the oil out of the cars for the chainsaw bar oil.

They can charge them with generators I assume? This doesn't seem like end of world stuff.

Electric equipment is certainly not end of the world shite.

These are already remote areas. The trees and limbs that need to be cleared are likely in even more remote places. Dragging a generator around is an unnecessary burden in this situation, when you could use that same fuel directly in the thing that needs power and just keep on moving.

It’s kind of shocking that this board has so many people that don’t instinctively see this as stupid because of prior experience. Neither does FEMA apparently.

I mean, I’m sure they’re solar powered.

Wind power!

Now that all the trees are horizontal they can access the unlimited wind energy.

If that is a “community without power,” how come there are electric lights visible in the picture?

Oh I see it as stupid, but still usable to some degree.

Are they air dropping gas generators? Where is the gas coming from in your imaginary world? Why the frick would I wait on a generator to charge a battery when I can use the same fuel to power my chainsaw and get the job done now?!?! Yeah, let's just forget the massive limitations of battery powered equipment... (which is significant) What you posted is astronomically stupid!!

To add to your post:

Perhaps the generators are needed for things that do not have a gas powered version

It stands to reason that all the wood needing to be cut is not right next to these available generators, so someone gets to transport the dead ones back and forth (hopefully in an EV!)

If you’re charging them with a gas generator why not just use a regular chainsaw and avoid all the other hassles already mentioned

This is some political irony…however, I’ll bet there wasn’t a single one left after 30 minutes. You can charge one of those lithium batteries for 20 minutes and cut more than you care to move.

I mean not true at all. I have, albeit Ryobi, but brushless 40 volt tools and those things drain a battery quickly and just do not have the power of gasoline. It's a cleaner, easier experience for me, but I'm mowing a lawn, trimming hedges, and weed whacking in a suburb.

The other thing is they overheat relatively easily, again could just be a Ryobi issue.

You don't charge the chainsaw, you charge the batteries. You keep 3-4 batteries on hand and swap them out when one dies. With enough batteries, you can work continuously.

So each of the boxes has 3-4 extra batteries?

No ones sending in a bunch of rookies with a 16” any kind of powered chainsaw to clear remote forested areas. These are for people to clean up shite around their house. And honestly a 16” electric is about all anyone who doesn’t already own a real chainsaw should be trusted with. Unless you want the tax payer to pay for Johnny methheads new prosthetic leg and a few mill for pain and suffering.

They need to leave the real clearing to people who know what they’re doing and not a bunch of bored volunteers. Let them use these to help people clear smaller shite on their property.
