hat's awefully late... I'm on 31-b this year, even if it started at 4:30, we wouldn't hit the Dome till almost 10..

Yeah I would rather they start on time. I get the joy of being on the second to last float this year so I would love to not have any delays.

Endy will probably roll later rather than earlier....like a 7pm start time and just end it when the floats get to the Dome.

As long as they can roll through "safely", they will go through the dome. The only thing about safety I can think of being a concern is a wet floor causing slippage or leaving the floors wet. however we did it a few years ago and the floors are always wet from everything. They will not deny the parade going through the dome due to time issues.

I suppose they are somewhat concerned about trying to brake heavy arse floats on wet concrete floors, but they've done it before.

I think now the question for all riders is: bibs or rain paints, parka or poncho, ankle boots or knee boots...you get the idea...let's prepare for the elements baws. Hopefully people will show up so that we will actually have someone to throw to.

That last rain debacle, they had people standing on St Charles in ankle deep water...

But what was wierd... The area where UMC and the VA was being built at the time was completely empty for like 3 blocks.. Except for 2 cops...

I'm prepared to get wet. This is my concern. All that money to throw to puddles?

7pm start time

That would be tough considering the Captain usually arrives in the extravaganza around 9-9:30.

I also can't see them sending any more than the first few floats if any through the dome if they are soaked. How did they clean/dry the floors in the past prior to letting the crowd disperse? I know they push the beads out of the way, but that would be a lot of water.

This afternoon's LIX discussion brings in mention of heavy rain possible Saturday, and when it's between my reading of models and theirs...we always side with the NWS. The potential is derived from the column of air above projected to be saturated well into the upper levels. The model soundings at least have a small temp inversion near the ground, providing a limit to convection if it materializes.

So consider the possibility of heavier rainfall than I've been talking about as legitimate. For now, we watch the short term models on how they evolve the rain concerning exactly when.

Another note is there is a huge split between the two main models going into Sunday on temperature. Euro sitting 15 degrees cooler than GFS. Furthermore, the GFS solution presents a threat of thunderstorms Sunday where the Euro is cooler and drier.

Finally, Monday has a big difference between these two models with the GFS showing more rain and the Euro clearing us out.

Summary: Forecast trending worse for Saturday and big questions for Sunday and Monday.

Looks like worst case scenario is happening. We are gonna get rained on bigtime.

That's far from a sure thing but that's a possible outcome yes.

So now you have all your bases covered. Light to moderate rain to now heavy rainfall.

There’s no way you can be wrong. Weather predictions 101.
