How much time you got?
Seriously.

Forget the criminal side, his real corruption would be on the civil side. His family has a lot of interests in St.Tammany and Washington parishes and the DAs office is a great place to protect those interests and to expand them

Yeah but all politicians are the same, there is a few people in top positions in that office who worked under Reed that are still there. Someone running the show is ok with it.

There are stories on Reed throughout the Parish. His brother having a no show job at the hospital is downright ethical in comparison.

Montgomery was a good guy, especially after sleazy Reed.

The biggest complaint on Montgomery was that he probably allowed too many plea deals.

That's the attack on Simms as well. According to his opponents ads he's taken only 1.2% of cases to trial.

Really good podcast about the death of Bruce Cucchiara. Jared Reicke comes off at best as a total disloyal scumbag and at worst, involved in the murder and/or coverup. Allegedly.

Sims...met him and hung out before I knew who he really was and before he was running. Solid dude.

Without knowing anything about either, just looking at the resumes should tell you most of what you need to know

One is a former federal prosecutor who has been Warren’s right hand man for years

One is a misdemeanor defense lawyer who years ago worked traffic tickets at the DA’s office

Easiest thing to do here is to listen to them directly:

LINK

Listening to them, Sims is the obvious choice

But since you mentioned it.....how did he meet his current wife?

Plea deals save money. Also helps to keep the prison industrial complex flush with dollars. You get a plea down to a manslaughter vs a straight up murder charge you still put the guy away.....just not as long. You don't get the trial, the prisons are still full. Everyone wins.

To this point, at least Simms is prosecuting. Wynne hasn't for a while. Wynne and Riecke have business interests that would be well served with an ally in the DAS office. Don't focus on the criminal end, it's the Civil end you should be watching.

I understand that, but he's below the national average.

Not even remotely as long. This is the problem.

Won't argue that Wynne handles misdemeanor criminal cases, but don't discount him or the family name in St Tammany. Lots of old money and if Riecke is helping to bankroll, formidable. I think Randy Smith is endorsing him.....so take that for what you will. I'll bet Steve Krentel is hoping that Wynne gets in

What makes Sims less "connected"? He's sending out flyers that's he's supported by four other chief's of police AND, laughably, Nungesser.

I don't know either of these candidates or any of the people that have been mentioned in here. Just looking to make the correct choice.

I do know that Sims chooses not to prosecute a lot of criminals.

But I only see Wynne signs in the Covington hood.

The prison industrial complex is the problem. Murder and manslaughter or one thing, clogging up the courts with misdemeanors, especially for first time offenders is a different story. The fact that we reached a point in this country where people make money off of putting people in jail or prison is ridiculous. As far as the local perspective, St. Tammany is all that matters, Washington Parish is an afterthought.

There are many violent misdemeanors and people charged with a felony who make deals to plead to misdemeanors. What about them?

I was speaking generally about the difference in sentencing for manslaughter vs murder.
