Serious question- whats keeping the US from shooting these out of the sky "in defense of Japan?"

The threat isn't Japan. It goes over Japan while it's in space.

The threat is Guam because they've said so. This latest launch has the range to reach Guam now

An Aegis cruiser or two parked off the coasts would be able to take them out as soon as they cross into international waters.

My cousin is stationed 2 miles from the N Korea border in the army.

I always text him asking if his arse is tight yet. He just laughs saying nobody there is scared of that drawf and they are all ready to wipe him off the map

These tests are a bluff to get us to use our missile defense systems and show our hand. US is doing the smart thing right now by not buying it.

The idiots are going to frick up, blow themselves up and turn NK into a nuclear wasteland eventually. Better to just let things take their natural course.

The natural course is revolution. The smartest military campaign at this point is propaganda and empowerment of a force that could depose them. Their people aren't all mindless cretins, having WMDs helps solidify the Party's position internationally to prevent outside intervention and terrifies their people into not opposing.

Also, the moment we drop on bomb or fire one bullet, we become the monsters they've warned their populace about for the last 50-60 years. It's sad, but you can't feel empathy for the inhumane conditions there. Their forefathers bought the communist agenda and future generations are paying in spades with their misery.

China has to step in and slap their retarded cousin right? Otherwise a lot of people in that country are gonna die without knowing about the Internet.

We should park multiple ships off the coast between N. Korea and Japan and shoot down any missile that they launch. They of course have the right to test within their own airspace but as soon as anything leaves their airspace it should be taken out.

Radioactive isotopes thought to have been residual effects of NK testing have been detected in South Korea.

Don't need to see the boom IMO

exactly, especially since 98% of said populace has no idea what their midget leader is doing because of the state run media.

Could you possibly imagine the heat Trump would get from our dumb arse country if he took action against North Korea, or anyone? Even if it was totally warranted..

The left melt would be something of epic proportions.

Predictability is synonymous with professional competence, and the Navy, custodian of many missile defense elements, apparently can't avoid running into shite on a calm open ocean.

Running into shite in vast wide open spaces is kinda how missile defense systems work. The Navy is just practicing at very low speeds.

They're out to frick him one way or the other.

They were so eager to say he "drew a red line" when he never did because they wanted to make him look as feckless as Obama. So on one hand, they're trying to make him look weak so Obama doesn't look so bad in retrospect, but they're also trying to make him look like the aggressor that's escalating the situation. Many pundits have essentially sided with NK just to make Trump look bad. It's completely pathetic.
