I'm experiencing this in Williamson County TN right now too. California and New York transplants are offering 50-100k over all asking prices and inventory is at historic lows.

Same thing out here in Dickson County.

It will only get worse now that building materials are in short supply.

I have honestly never understood how a house gets sold over asking price. Why would a seller ever initially price their home below market value?

You don’t understand how multiple people wanting the same home can end in an offer higher than asking?

No crazy hurricane and flood insurance and $25k deductible though.

My wind and hail, flood and property tax doesn't even come close to what my sister and B-i-l were paying in property tax when they lived in Denton County.

Took me 14 offers the past 2 months to get an agreement in Idaho. 6 I lost out to where for cash offers, one was $45K over asking. It was crazy.

What city in Idaho? Co-worker put in an offer for a house in Meridian (Boise suburb) over $20k asking.... The winning bid was $70k over.

Is like this all over my hood in the city too. Very few houses are put up for sale so when they are its a buyers frenzy.

He got the saying wrong but the grammar was still correct.

They are buying the home site unseen.

ETA: I was too late.

We are thinking of selling our house now because the market is that insane here in DFW.

Move to Argyle. That is my plan if we go through with it. Tons of new developments at a price point cheaper then what we could get for our house in Southlake.

A family member informed me he is putting his house on the market. I bet him $1 he will receive at least two offers withing the first 10 days of it being listed. He laughed as said "I hope so!"

He lives in Clearwater. It's going to be snatched up in no time.

a friend of mine is a mortgage broker. he heard through the grapevine at work that somebody was about to sell their house at the same company, but he didn't know him. we wrote a letter about their situation and offered a 2 week closing process and they took them up on it.

great for my friend but i'm betting that guy missed a few thousand dollars to a bidding war. some of the things i'm hearing about what people are doing to win these bid are insane. writing letters, offering cash up front, waving inspections, waving warranties, offering to pay both realtors' fees. it's insane.

it's going to bust, i'm just glad we refinanced last year and remodeled it to "forever home" (whateverTF that means) last year and are done.

I was watching that show on HGTV, with the Canadian guy who is a builder, and will do full reno's, and the prices in the area he's at are asinine.

One couple won a bid for a home, and paid $250K over home listing to finally win the bidding war. It wasn't even 1,200 square feet. And then put 350K+ in reno work to it.

$800K for a $200K house.

I've been watching shows on home building in Florida, and building a home is getting expensice as frick. When i was down in Florida in 99 to 2001, you could get a Home with screened in pool for $125-150K easily, and in nice areas. Even in Viera it was right at $170Kish+.

Must be running out of land to build. Lots of wetlands they cannot touch.
