New Orleans can’t keep traffic signals on, and it can’t collect garbage twice a week like residents have been paying for.

Does anyone honestly think it can sustain an adequately staffed and administered police department? NO.

Had dinner with friends a few nights ago, and the mental gymnastics they engaged in to make it seem ok here was staggering.

So 34.

Gotta love quitting a job and then being publicly humiliated for it. Sure this will pay off for them

Pretty sure the citizens of new Orleans abandoned him. They don’t want more cops.

Well this is untrue. Hell this is untrue even in places like Portland. You’re being influenced by a vocal minority.

ETA: downvote all you want, polls show people everywhere want more police, not less. Regardless of race btw

A New Orleans resident should file a civil lawsuit against the DOJ for the harm the consent decree has caused to their city.

I'm sure all the brothers and sisters in blue appreciate the superintendent trying to publicly shame the guy. I'm certain that will boost morale.

Meh.

Exactly. This guy was young and smart enough to see the writing on the wall. Good eject. With those personnel numbers he’s basically being thrown to the wolves. And of course the brass would have his back if he ever had to act while on patrol. LOL.

No. The vocal minority is influencing city, state, and federal governments. It’s blatantly obvious in New Orleans.

Man, I work side by side with these guys. It’s way worse than is being reported.

Ferguson is an appointed piece of shite.

I’ve said here before, People give NOPD a hard time, but don’t realize what those officers face. Response times aren’t because they don’t care, it’s because they’re literally backlogged.
Criminals know this, they know their schedules, shift change times, easily attainable scanners give their locations, so crime is easy to commit. They aren’t scared that an officer is around.

It all falls on leadership and the people (left) who have handcuffed police from doing their jobs. I don’t blame them for quitting.
Don’t slave away to provide for your family for someone who doesn’t care about your safety. Brass doesn’t care about it’s staff, they care about themselves and their position. Thus Ferguson saying he abandoned his brothers. Those aren’t Ferguson’s brothers, they can’t stand him.

The city is a cesspool. 7 more years and I’m out.

There are three reasons anybody still works for NOPD.

1. You're in admin and do nothing but steal from taxpayers.
2. You're too close to pension to quit.
3. You cannot do anything else and probably don't even realize how bad it has gotten.

Anybody with options is leaving or has already left.

You're seeing this at a smaller scale with BRPD and other agencies in shitty Louisiana cities.

No?

What you said and I said are both correct. The person I responded to said the people of New Orleans don’t want police. That is a false statement.

Only reason I’m still working for that city. I’m too far into my pension.
I don’t live in that city, I don’t frequent it, I don’t give it my money.
I do give it my life, which is weird, but I generally care about helping people. I’ll never lose that. So I do care about helping the citizens. They’re not all criminals or bad people like some portray the city to be filled with.

It’s way worse than anyone here knows.

After I retire I’ll write an all tell book on tOT.

The problems go well beyond Destroyah, though she is part of the problem.

Having a worthless DA drop charges against violent felons is also a problem.

Any NOPD officer approaching retirement needs to get a huge life insurance policy that pays their beneficiaries huge money if they die on the job.

“Retirony” jokes aside, things are getting uglier out there.
