keep in mind these are mostly outsiders commenting who've never lived there.
also it does no good not to acknowledge that in New Orleans black people are demonstrably more violent than white people. the reasons for that are myriad but it remains true

My opinion is that the majority of a city's residents will live up to the stereotype of what others view the city as.

Also I've said numerous times I love going to Nola and the crime won't keep me away. I've never been on the boycott Nola side. And I think they are stupid as frick.

12 pages of people who never were coming (or have never been) to NO claiming that now they arent coming to NO.
Bizarre.
You really think there are ooodles of posters here who've never been to New Orleans?
I guess whatever you need to tell yourself to get through the day, brother.

When did they put these security cameras in?

I guess man, if that's how you want to read it and break it down as elementary as possible.... I keep seeing the 'cultcha' word you are using, maybe that is it.... I mean do you just think 'blacks' are inherently more violent due to the color or their skin or something? I mean if we want to break it down all elementary and shite.
I see you're being willfully ignorant to the very facts you laid out. You listed a bunch of government programs as significant contributing factors to the crime problem in NOLA. Yes, people of a certain skin color in NOLA are more violent than others and it has nothing to do with their skin color, but it's rather the fruit of programs started to "help" them.
You began your argument well, then resorted to an "elementary" interpretation of the facts you laid out yourself. It is a complex problem but there's nothing you, I, Mitch, or the government can fix. It's only a problem the group committing these crimes can fix.

And yet the reality is there are no decent rentals available at any price and quality renovations are selling for 210-225 a sq ft if you can find them.

I'm going to start selling these in the city...

I used to visit New Orleans more times than not throughout the year...New Years, Mardi Gras, Red Dress Run etc it's just not worth the risk anymore.

You know the police in Amsterdam dress in civilian attire and walk around the city streets observing goings on. Eventually the NOPD will have to come to the same evolution in policing the Quarter.
I've seen plainclothes cops in the Quarter milling around Bourbon. Problem is, they're pretty conspicuous to me--a civilian--so just think how much they stand out to the local street smart criminals. They need to form a Rust Cohle-esqe division that blends in well.

Dude, you'd make a killing. I won a pair of those from selling magazines or something in elementary school

Am i missing something here?
I do remember back around early 2000s there was crime cameras that were fully funded and supposed to be all over the city... I'm just going off memory but I think only something like 10-15% ever became functional.
A good program I've seen recently is private residents joining a program with the city to allow access to their private footage if a crime happened to be committed on their stoop or under their gallery.
I've actually worked fundraisers to help fund private cameras.
One of the BIG issues right now in the city is criminals getting off with a slap on the wrist. I know someone that was killed recently that had not long been released after doing 3 years for shooting someone. Accepted a plea of agg assault and did right at 3 years.. he got gunned down pumping gas. No doubt in my mind it was a retaliatory killing. I mean you shoot someone, get out in 3 years, and they shoot you.

How's it look in Central City, Hollygrove, and the lower 9th?
Posted on 7/15/17 at 1:31 pm to Paul Allen
y'all don't care when some get hemmed up in the 9th ward.
Why should I care any more for this than what happens in the trap ?

Okay? Are you saying there hasn't been flight from cities to the suburbs by those who can afford it? I was pretty positive that is a widely accepted fact. And in no way specific to just new Orleans. It's a problem in all major cities...
