Nopd does have a bad officer problem, on top of very poor leadership.

A bunch of officers that have quit & are quitting because they got busted manipulating their pay on details. Go watch Lee zuriks investigation

This has nothing at all to do with the issue I was pointing out.

But the consent decree was such a success that everyone wants to be on the NOPD

The consent decree is a major issue. It’s an absolute failure like most democrat policies when it comes to enforcing or preventing crime.

In reality, it’s a combination of this and officers quitting due to the lack of support by government officials in the city

The level of cop hate has been turned up to 10 since 2016

The article states the city receives about seven applications per day which equates to around 200 applicants a month or over 2000 per year.
There are plenty of applicants. The problem seems to be overtime. NOPD doesn't want to hire more officers because it will reduce overtime and pay.

The amount of actual boots on the ground as a opposed to the total department is truly scary. The criminals realize they have almost no one to keep them in check. The mayor is busy putting her head in the sand on the issue. NOLA is in a complete tailspin.

Sadly, two songs recorded 50+ years ago are still mostly true today, “Ball of Confusion” by the Temptations, and “In the Ghetto” by Elvis Presley.

Until the administrations start backing their officers and the base pay gets much better, they will keep losing more

Just look at BRPD, black officers get easy punishments and then white officers are getting burned at the stake for mistakes. That’s a pretty easy way to lose officers

They got back to me 6 months later with absolutely no contact in between. I had found another job by that point and that is probably the biggest bullet I've ever dodged.

I know a guy who applied for a job with Sewage and Water Boards. It was for environmental related work. Had an undergrad and a masters degree. They insisted he also submit a copy of high school diploma. His parents had to climb through an attic several states away and mail it to him. He turned everything in (including high school diploma) and they called him … a year later.

Bring in National Guard

No.
The rest of the state should not be held responsible for the incompetence, irresponsibility, and gross negligence of people who openly hate it.

Let New Orleans residents bask in the consequences of their own choices.

The Guard is not meant to provide law enforcement in American cities except during specific, temporary emergency activations.

Biden is happy with less police protecting citizens.
At least it's a part of his handlers' big plans.

From what I’ve heard, BRPD certainly isn’t doing a great job retaining officers. Although I am surprised they aren’t losing them at a faster rate.

Instead of experienced, professional officers patrolling, you’ll see many more instances of dogshit rookies making possibly fatal mistakes because all the professionals have quit and they’re replacing them with idiots who shouldn’t be working at Wendy’s.

THIS^

My understanding is that after you take out detectives, admin, and other back of house, the actual number on patrol is less than half. You then take out for sick, COVID, vacation, disability, etc. and factor in two shifts and days off. Split that across 8 districts and there’s only a few on patrol at any given time.
I’ve heard that in the East, some shifts have only a few cars on the road with single officers, and because of the size of the district, a full siren response time could be 25 minutes even for an officer down.
SCARY

This is the case for most police departments right. I think the general public would be shocked/scared if they knew how many cops are actually on duty at any given time.

The departments will publicly state some large number like 700 employed, but maybe 100 are in patrol, and then split that by shifts and districts and the number on duty at any given time is very small.
