I don't question the parents in this specific instance.
What I question is how the death of their son is relevant to the Congressional Black Caucus other than using that young man's death as some type of racially motivated publicity.

Friend's son was murdered in Jackson last year. She was not going out to parties three months later. Period.

While I don't have an issue with them going to a gala, the idea that having a dead child makes you a "celebrity" and worthy of being celebrated is odd.
