via Councilman Giarusso, the city council members are meeting with the mayor today. Cases in hospitals and ICU’s are beginning to rapidly increase. Giarusso/the council and the mayor are discussing a city wide shut down of non critical businesses and reduced operating hours for things like grocery stores, pharmacies, etc.

Yeah good luck with shutting down private businesses.
Remember when she said she could cancel the Mayors Mask Ball because it was private?
I remember

Going to happen everywhere. Fast foods are already only offering drive thru service at some locations and soon will have to close.

Nothing like screwing working people. Latoya, Giarusso, Moreno and the like need to not take paychecks.

The business may be private but all the permits to operate that business are through the city.

What if we can work remotely?

There’s no inherent right to operate a business. State and local officials can pretty much do whatever they want in terms of closing them. Your only guaranteed recourse is the right to vote them out

What about construction sites?

So should we expect the city to shut down One Shell Square, Harrahs, and all the other hotels and high rise buildings in the City?

Does this apply to the Waffle House in NOLA East too?

Pretty sure Orleans Parish has been declared in a state of emergency which gives the governor the authority to lock everything down.

Which also happens during hurricanes but businesses still operate.
