Pretty sure before the controversy Nyx had grown to the highest membership of any parade. They were even discussing with the city at one time a "summertime" parade.

The one year I did Mardi Gras Day in Metairie I saw more fights and bull shite than I had ever seen Up-town. Which was strange because every other Metairie parade I had been to was the exact opposite.

You must have been near Bonnabel. For some reason it's really trashy right after Bonnabel. Or from Puglias to hurricanes.

A lot of trash comes to Metairie from surrounding parishes that don't want to go into New Orleans. A lot end up in that area via the Bonnabel exit off I-10.

That's now the beginning of the route as it moves off of Bonnabel and heads west.

I actually think from the parade stands at Causeway through Bonnabel is the best part of the Metairie route and not as trashy as say, the Severn area. With that said, once the parade gets back on Veterans after Bonnabel it is trashy by Jiggers.

We went last year and had the neutral ground to ourselves. Kids were playing football, etc. Got there an hour before the parade starts.

Not Mardi Gras day, it goes back to the original route.

Its rather simple. The democrat party is a cult. New Orleans is majority democrat. Prob about 85% of the city is.

So basically, you have to wear your mask, you have to get your boosters, and you have to say black lives matter. you can not deviate from these or you are a right-wing bigot.

Look at the mayor, you have to be in a cult to have voted for her again.

The All Lives Matter thing was kind of the straw that broke the camel's back. The people I knew who rode got more and more disgusted each year with the way it was run and they hated the captain. Funny thing is that at its height Nyx was the most diverse parade in the city.

Correct. Julie Lea had been doing shady shite for a while and digging her heels in on the ALM/BLM matter was the last straw for most of the riders.

Mortal sin in New Orleans....I'm surprised that they were even allowed to parade.

Nyx is not long for this world if they can't increase membership, and that seems unlikely until the current captain steps down.

Nope. In fact some didn't ever live in the area at all.

ETA: I was a page in Proteus in 1976 and lived in Atlanta at the time.

Yeah I mean you can be arrested for corruption and then still get elected to council.
you can be elected and re elected as mayor owing more in back taxes than 95% of the people that vote for you.
