I hope the fire department is on standby.

I buy whatever ones are on sale / cheap at Academy at the end of the season. I hose them well at the end of the season and I have been getting numerous seasons out of them.

Only thing that matters to me is the weighted keel.
Not that I disagree that houses cost way to much, but the cottage in Metairie is actually in Old Metairie, which means the lot value is probably $400K.
Agreed.....also Gray has an office in Mandeville which is where the CEO most likely works from (when not traveling).

My son is 12, hasn't played baseball in 2 years. It's sad, he doesn't care about the sport, doesn't know much about it. He plays travel soccer and runs, which fit him better. I played football, but also rec baseball. I feel it taught me an appreciation for the game, which I think you have to have (especially today with so many distractions) to continue to watch and enjoy the game.

Our playground (large playground in Metry) had rec leagues that had 5 to 8 teams. Then they got the travel ball coaches to come in to coach the teams (many of them use the playground facilities for the travel teams), and those coaches just used the rec team as an extra practice for their players. It killed the league, I head they only had 30 players or so turn out this year.
How about another couple....an analysis of spending by department in the month of June each year compared to previous months at those departments.

Maybe offer some incentive for departments to save money and not just spend at the end of the fiscal year to use their full budgets.

I would also love to see a list of the state's top 50 or 100 vendors by year for a period of three to five years. Then cross analysis to owner(s) of said organizations and political contributions.
How about we look into how much taxpayer (state and local funds) are spent on Washington Mardi Gras every year. Maybe the follow up can be a comparison of those who paid for hospitality rooms, etc. and the number of contracts those entities received. Would be a fun exercise.

Had a few of them walking around this morning.

They need to reopen roads back up, yesterday evening downtown was the worst traffic I have seen in a really long time.

Still have traffic and street lights that do not work, I hope they actually fix them. We shall see.

He just moved into a new house and his generator (apparently a Generac) is not working and he has been trying to get it fixed. I guess with the storm hitting today during his show, the generator issue was pissing him off.
He just had Adam Sandler on, I would guess Sandler is worth more than Rogan.
I am guessing he was fishing or something? I grew up fishing and hunting the marsh and have hit stumps (obviously we don’t have the cypress like the Tickfaw area), but he must have been running pretty close to shore or running up on shore for that to happen, or am I crazy?
Yes it was, but Joe didn't own the restaurant.

He will be missed, he did plenty of good for the city.
Anaytical reviews, such as year to year comparisons? Ratio analysis?

If the charges are spread across numerous GL accounts, a $5k or $10k variance from year to year is not going to pop in an analytical review.

Auditors' Responsibility Paragraph

Our objectives are to obtain reasonable assurance about whether the financial statement as a whole is free from material misstatement, whether due to fraud or error, and to issue an auditor’s report that includes our opinion. Reasonable assurance is a high level of assurance but is not absolute assurance and therefore is not a guarantee that an audit conducted in accordance with GAAS will always detect a material misstatement when it exists. The risk of not detecting a material misstatement resulting from fraud is higher than for one resulting from error, as fraud may involve collusion, forgery, intentional omissions, misrepresentations, or the override of internal control.

Now, on their internal control procedures, who is reviewing and approving credit card statements? Could be an issue there.

Looks like East or West Livingston from looking at the street.
Very rough day…I flew Delta MSY to ATL yesterday morning…AC wasn’t working right and they were bringing us back to the gate when a passenger had a medical emergency. EMS got him off the plane, thankfully he seemed to be doing fine when they took him off. We finally take off and landed 5 min before my connection. The plane was hot until 20K feet, so they definitely didn’t fix the AC.
Is this another event for the private sector to meet with / entertain our politicians? If so, didn't we just have a similar event with Washington Mardi Gras?
I really want to leave NOLA….so many bad things but I am stuck for the next 10 years or so. With that said, today at 3rd and St Charles did something for me, it was perfect (now I left at 5pm, so who know how it is now), it was just perfect. It restored my faith in the city, so many amazing people and visitors who want to take in this place.
I actually think from the parade stands at Causeway through Bonnabel is the best part of the Metairie route and not as trashy as say, the Severn area. With that said, once the parade gets back on Veterans after Bonnabel it is trashy by Jiggers.

We went last year and had the neutral ground to ourselves. Kids were playing football, etc. Got there an hour before the parade starts.

Let me know if you have any candidates that fit that profile, they are harder and harder to find. Then, if you find one, they want to be paid $50K base now (at least), plus OT and benefits.

At the end of the day, you are paying $15 - $20 per hour for a kid to flip burgers at McDonald's.

Costs have gone up on everything. CPAs like attorneys, etc. have to raise rates. Rates have increased faster than usual due to inflation, people retiring and overall lack of candidates.

Things are more complex. There are less and less CPAs and accountants who want to deal with taxes, along with increase in tax software and wages for staff means prices are going up.

For years CPAs ate a bunch of their time, from talking to a few firms, those firms have enough work that they are starting to charge you what it takes to complete your return. If you don’t like it, ask them if there is a way to lower your fee (maybe your organize better, have better records, etc) or do it yourself.
Quite a bit of tax incentives to install chargers. If I had a grocery store, mall, movie theater, gym; somewhere folks can kill time, it could work. I assume it's only a matter of time before most parking garages have charging stations. It would be nice to pull into the office, plug in to charge up then move your car (after a full charge) at lunch time to a regular spot in the garage.
I have a 90 ETEC, but I am no mechanic. Forgot the mechanic’s name, but the guy over at Blue Dot in Chalmette has always been super helpful.

Good advice but the Hall of Fame is closed right now.
Those two aren't "cities". They are just unincorporated communities in the parish they are located.

I hope the plan is to paint around the "Caesars Superdome" to color that section in. If not, when they painted over the "Mercedes Benz Superdome" they did it with white paint; and the dome's roof is not pure white which shows the contrast.

See the link. Coast Guard is still investigating. I heard he was T-boned by the crab boat as well. He will be missed.

Unfortunately Capt Mark was killed in a boat accident right before the storm. Very sad, he was a great guy and great captain. He will be missed.

I would recommend Rory
As a CPA, this is good advice. Depending on the complexity of your business, you may want your CPA to review monthly, but you should feel that out. I do think for small businesses without a seasoned Controller or strong bookkeeper who understands financials and tax impacts on the owners, they should be reviewing financials with your CPA quarterly for an hour or so. It’s hard for a CPA to tax plan and provide guidance if you aren’t meeting at least semi regularly.
