Not the Blue Angels or Thunderbirds, but we'll take what we can get.

12pm Friday Baton Rouge.

ETA: has Queen Cantrell weighed in?

Before anyone complains about wasting money here, these are essentially training exercises that the Air Force is using to pay respects to healthcare workers.

It's like firemen taking the fire truck out for a spin just to drive it and drive it by the hospital, only the fire truck here is a few B-52s and F-15s.

Muh tests (in a city which has had fewer than 25 positives over each of the past 5 days) is the flavor of the moment for those outraged on Twitter.

I think B-52 and F-15 flyover would be even cooler than the blue angels or thunderbirds! My dream is to see that combination flyover for an LSU game.

Why don't they get some real training in and have a little rolling thunder urban renewal down in chocolate city.

Yes. But who will take care of the patients while staff is outside watching the flyover????

ETA: other clips of flyovers have shown outside filled with staff NOT 6 feet apart. Not sure where it was — maybe BR/NOLA will watch from windows.

Do you know what they're really doing? Time on target drills. They're practicing bombing runs. They have to do so many a year to keep training current so they get them done at the same time they're on a goodwill/PR tour. When you request a bomber or a fighter flyby over a stadium? Yeah, he just faked bombing the shite out of it.

PROTIP: Load the bombers this time, Barksdale.

There is a very good reason this came so quickly into your head, because it is wasting money. Who does training exercises to learn how to do fly overs?

Are they expecting a bunch of fly over scenarios in warfare? Get serious.

Horsechit.
When fighters are in tight formation they are not on a “bombrun”. They will be staggered and spread more to ensure they have space to maneuver in case of SAM launch as they come on target.

Case in point the F-16’s from Shaw AFB that did the hospital runs yesterday. Two pairs five minutes apart with lead and wingman splits of @ 100-150 ft.

Case in point

The Air Force can do all the flyovers they want if it takes money away from spending on liberal special interests.

Maybe they’re training how to use B-52’s to do massive airdrops of MRE’s over American cities, like the Berlin Airlift. Pretending to salute people who have jobs and collecting paychecks, maybe the real scenario they’re planning for is in taking care of masses of unemployed people who can’t feed themselves or their families anymore. Maybe that makes sense, but spending money on anything other than getting this economy kickstarted again certainly does not.

Want to ease suffering? Get the fat cat bankers to differ people’s loan payments due during this crisis to the back end of their loans for people who are seriously affected by this mess. That’s something most people can salute. But I digress... Americans want an air show. After all, we need entertainment too.

I really shouldn't have to educate you but here we go:
It is a valid training exercise which may or may not include a practice bombing run. Tiger Stadium or the Superdome my be The target. The flight path for this run is over BR & NOLA; that all this is. And it's already been paid for by our taxes.

And when the LA National Guard dumps Christmas trees from helicopters to help with coastal erosion?
That's a training exercise too.
You either keep your skills sharp or lose them. Which do you want when they are called upon to defend us?
Grow up & learn something fool.

So tired of having to educate young morons.

We’re still using F15s? Thought we sold all of those to the Saudis cause they were too expensive to maintain. Thought I read that’s why the F16 and 18s were brought into service.

I’m good with it. The 14/15 platforms are a couple of my favorites anyway.

You’re not wrong, but they’re still hitting a TOT. Can’t speak to other communities, but in my part of the Air Force that’s valuable training that takes a good bit of planning. Especially when hitting multiple TOTs.
