Can someone explain to me what makes Snapchat better than texting? Obviously I do not have that app. I’d sound foolish asking a friend if I could Snapchat them.
Explain it like I’m a child. Photos involved? Can text random skanks? They can text you?
Can someone hand me a pull on sweater and turn the goddamned AC off too!!!

The boys in my sons 8th grade class are mostly Snapchat users, and it shows. Bunch of shite heads.

I completely disagree
Snapchat jumped the shark and most people are not using it anymore

Teens are absolutely using it, and not being a part of it absolutely has social ramifications.
I wouldn’t care if it was just the auto delete thing, because I trust my kids not to send nudes or anything like that, but it’s the stories/scenes/reels or whatever they are called in snap. That stuff is mind-bending and IMO severely detrimental to a developing mind. That and the streaks or whatever, which is just mindless, seemingly an innovation solely intended to weld young people to their phones.
And don’t compare it to having a playboy magazine stashed somewhere in the 80s. That’s a laughable comparison.

Teams of sociopathic software engineers have spent the last 2 decades perfecting the art of addiction to technology. Snapchat is one of their drugs they push on the youth to get them hooked on their phones. As these young minds consume more and more of their sponsored content and algorithm driven rewards mechanisms, they lose sight of reality and end up hopelessly lost in a digit world meant to imprison them with the allusion of freedom.
Nothing makes snapchat better than texting in reality. But in the mind of a naïve adolescent its the best thing in the world.

Yes to both. It's just like collecting phone numbers, except a guy will walk up to a girl and ask for her Snap. Snapchat also does its thing and makes suggestions based on people who are friends of your friends (jut like FB and Insta). So kids can have hundreds of contacts of other kids in town that they don't even know.
They quite literally date this way before an official date. It's very weird but it's how this generation of teenager operates.

I hate Snapchat but I’m on there to monitor my daughters activity.
She’s just sending them in a way that you can’t see them. I know because I was that dad. No more Snapchat.
There’s also a section on there called my eyes only and you need a separate passcode to access it. Snapchat is the devil.

You can inform him there is at least one other 14 year old out there who doesn’t have Snapchat, namely my daughter.
