People will instinctively say Air Force but the Navy has Top Gun/Navy Aviators & SEALS.

ETA.... my Daddy is a Marine & he always made fun of my ex husband, who was Navy... called him swabbie. So I never heard of the Marines being a part of the Navy. I searched and found this, “The Marines were officially established on 10 November 1775 by the Continental Congress to act as a landing force for the United States Navy. In 1798, however, Congress established the Marine Corps as a separate service.”

Navy. They have the air power to do long distance strikes. They also have a larger ground fighting force.

I’m a civilian, so help me understand. Doesn’t the Navy have support infrastructure on land that could be wiped out too? I’m guessing the entire Marine Corps isn’t living on boats.

What about all the boats that are docked when this battle starts?

You do realize that Navy subs have ICBM’s, correct? The IC stands for intercontinental. They could take out Colorado Springs from the other side of Hawaii

Is the AF launching a surprise attack part of the hypothetical now?

I don’t know. Maybe that is their only chance to win?

Even if not, how does the Navy deal will high altitude carpet bombing of its facilities? Maybe it has something that can answer I’m no expert obviously.

The Navy also has it’s own air power. Their carriers have plenty of fighter jets to intercept large, slow bombers. And the Navy also has more SOFs. MARSOC, SEALs and the best, DEVGRU.

Navy

quote:

3,700+[2] total Department of the Navy manned aircraft (U.S. Navy operates 2,623 manned aircraft and the U.S. Marine Corps operates 1,304 manned aircraft)[3]

Air Force

quote:

5,047 manned aircraft[6] 406 ICBMs[7] 170 satellites[8]

Does the Navy get its ICBMs from the AF?

DEVGRU is not the best lmao. Just the most well known.

MARSOC isn’t Navy. And air force has PJs and CCTs.

Navy wins strictly from air and water though

The marines aren’t part of the navy... navy just transports the marines in the ships

Navy airplanes don’t have near the range that airforce planes do.

air-air refueling...range is not an issue for either.

Be nice if the OP would let us know if he's including the marines or not.

Could be wrong, but I’ve never seen a Navy refueler.
