So, you will now pay $6 for a QR code with nothing but information that is already readily available on your registration card and insurance card.

Not complaining, my inspection sticker expired last November, and I’ve been waiting in hopes that this passed.

It looks like in EBR you still have to get an emissions test, so i don't really see how this creates much of a convenience. just slightly cheaper i guess.

So if, in effect, the bill eliminates the inspection program/sticker requirement, what purpose does the $6 QR code serve?

Do you live in one of the BR metro parishes? If so, yours is $18 because of the fricking chemical plants in our area, so they charge us more since we pollute in an area already polluted more than normal.

Makes sense, right?

They'll now get $24 from me they wouldn't have gotten.

What if I have my QR code sticker and get a new windshield, will I get a $300 ticket for no QR code sticker now before I renew my registration next time?

Every shop bitched about it.

That old fart in Mandeville always had to drive the vehicle in a circle.

That's when I quit getting them.

Additionally, other cities like New Orleans, Kenner, and Westwego will retain the authority to enforce their own local inspection requirements.
.

Good riddance to 'Brake Tags' - money grab and a complete inconvenience, nothing more.

In all seriousness, this is probably more to extend the surveillance apparatus reach than anything else. I believe those flock cameras now in use in alot of locales can scan those QR codes.

Now instead of 25% the population actually getting inspection stickers at $18-20, everyone in the state must have them at $6.

These will be much quicker for the police to scan at check points.
They'll probably make more money now.
