Geez, the stupid in this comment is unbelievable.

What is more likely to happen: State police investigate and find nothing or someone driving a 15 year old truck has enough cash to pay off an investigation?

No, it is not. The world is so much better, much better. As a black man, I am so thankful for that. Unfortunately, there are still people with the mindset of the Jim Crow days.
But your current position implies that not only one racist who killed a man holds those stances, but an entire police force and investigative body in this city also holds that mindset.

Seriously, that is an absolutely awful way to view the world.

ETA: That may have been the troll’s position though.

The fact that a board full of white southern conservatives was disgusted by this guy/story has to be an improvement on prior generations, I'd think

If they found other evidence to say he did it on purpose or in any way other than a complete accident, then string him up and use that stuff as evidence as well. But merely not caring and being a racist shite bag isn't quite enough. And it sounds like there is some pretty good evidence/witness reports that back up that it was an accident.

I completely understand the desire for something bad to happen to this turd, but you can't just assume he did something that he likely didn't just because you think he's a piece of shite.

Just because they decided to not press charges, does not mean everyone has to personally agree with the ruling. OJ, was ruled not guilty in the court of law. But I, along with thousands of other people remain convinced that he is a murderer. We know he cannot be convicted of those crimes, but that does not change the way that we see OJ or how we feel about him.

So anyway. Do we know if he had to pay a deductible for damage repairto his whip or can he get reimbursed by the family?

And while shitty, the mindset isn’t illegal.

And this guy didn’t run over a black man because he was racist. He him him because he walked in front of his car.

OJ was charged meaning the DA thought they could convict or at least have a good shot at it.

This is a 100% completely different situation and the comparison is laughable.

Does anyone know whose obstruction Mr. Lewis was removing from the road? Was he cleaning up his own mess or was he a good Samaritan that stopped to remove an obstruction caused by others?

You may have misunderstood me. I don't necessarily believe that the police force and investigators were racist and just did not care for the black man. That is not my position, as I think that jumps into a whole conspiracy theory of things which I think are stupid.

I am simply of the opinion that in life, the justice system is simply not perfect. And there are not much things we can do about it unfortunately. There are tons of innocent people who are charged with a crime they did not commit. Meanwhile there are plenty of guilty people who walk innocent, because the court ruled them not guilty.

reading between the lines of this quote in the article...

quote:

"What it appears at this point is that this man was trying to do a good deed," Louisiana State Police Sgt. James Anderson told KLPC-TV in Lake Charles. "There was debris in the roadway and he didn't want any other motorists to strike it. So he gets out of the vehicle to remove the debris, and he is struck while this is happening."

I would say he was picking up someone else's debris

True, but getting angry or frustrated with our imperfect system is a fruitless endeavor.

It isn’t perfect, but it is the best that we have and we have to take the good with the bad.

Lastly, I am very aware the evidence pointed towards driver being innocent. Such as the victim walking into the road, driver slowing down. Etc.

You do know, it is possible that while he may have not just purposely went out of his way to hit the victim in the road. It is also very possible that he didn't care that much to swerve away, brake, etc and make sure he didnt hit him. He did just enough to make sure it looked like an accident.

Heard too many stories of people being hit because of this, also knew a 17 year old girl who was helping her bf move a deer and was struck and killed.

Police can get out and move stuff.

Have a good day, sir. We can have discussions and disagreements all day long. I don't care to get into personal attacks, though.
