I always thought this was the main "Old Money" area of Atlanta. I was wondering why it took 3 pages to get mentioned. I guess it's the New Money of the OT maybe?

man, that was the sticks back in the late 80s. Used to go to a polo club up that way and it seemed like it took forever to get there.

To answer the OP, anywhere north of the Connector is nice. Really depends on what you want.

Buckhead is my scene but I could live anywhere from Vinings to Roswell and be happy.

Only questionable areas north of the city are Lindbergh (ghetto shithole), patches of Norcross/Doraville, and some parts of Marietta.

Would not live in metro Atlanta.

Check out Alpharetta, Roswell, East Cobb, Woodstock, Dawsonville, Cumming.

That’s all considered metro Atlanta genius.

I think this is mostly right. That said, you have some sketchy areas in NW, and a lot of junky/ghetto areas around Smyrna. There are plenty of mediocre areas in the northern burbs, although you're not likely to get shot in them. They're just suburban in a bad way. Gwinnett has a fair amount of shady areas.

Senoia/Peachtree City is very nice. It's part of Metro Atlanta but still has a small town feel to it.

Got a room at the La Quinta in Sandy . Checked in around midnight and noticed some sketchy people in the lobby. Wife went to the room while I got the bags . When I walked in she was furious. Had the sheets pulled back to show me painted nails all over . The carpet smelled like old beer and cigarettes. Got my money back and drove on to Nashville.

Do you have a family with kids that will be going to public school?

Families that are doing public school are mostly OTP in the northern burbs (Marietta/East Cobb, Roswell, Alpharetta, Woodstock, Kennesaw).

If you don't have to worry about public schools, there are a ton of options ITP like Decatur, Sandy Springs, Midtown, Vinings and Buckhead.

City of Decatur is cool and ITP. Except its full of rich liberals and hippies with trust funds who like to pretend like the pursuit of money and capitalism is bad while simultaneously living in million dollar homes and throwing incredible craft beer, wine and cheese parties all paid for with the trust funds and inheritances received from their hard-working capitalist parents and grandparents. Living in Decatur as a conservative is quite the social experiment.

Decatur especially near the square is an awesome place to live. Marta to get you to most events and places around town and tons of great food and booze.

If I was living ITP it would be Decatur or Va-Highlands

Unfortunately you're pretty far out there and surrounded by hood/rednecks.

Go OTP as far as you can stand to commute.
I75 South of McDonough or 75 North Woodstock and up.
85 South Below Fairburn, 85North- Suwannee or above.
I20 East of Covington or West of Douglasville.

There actually some very nice areas ITP or just OTP but most are a rock’s throw from shite.

I would anything from north 285- i75 east- ga400- south of hwy 20. all schools are good in that area. East cobb, Woodstock, roswell, Alpharetta, crabapple. All great places. If you have kid I would pick East Cobb. Walton is a really great school.
