Email the guy and ask if ge plans on voting democrat in Texas. Ask how his past votes have contributed to the morass that is New Orleans.

I know we don’t like columnists on here, but how do we know which way he voted in the past for every election?

Now with that being said, if he’s a Democrat, he may have heeded the call that “we need you more in Texas than in Louisiana”

What’s the average life like in New Orleans? Spanish fusion and $18 cocktails?

When I was just starting out here (60's and 70's) the future seemed bright. Older professionals debated whether we were the next Houston or the next Atlanta, both of which were seen as our rivals.
No one thinks that way now. Both those cities have outstripped NO in every measurable way. There is little future here for young people. The productive members of the city are all living somewhere else whether it's Metairie or the North Shore or Houston. And the "charm"? That's long gone too. Unless you think living like a college freshman is charming. Getting drunk on Fridays is not charming or "culture."
Don't get me wrong. I love Friday afternoons in the Quarter and at times the city feels like a club to those of us who have grown up here. Nothing has really changed and you see the folks you know wherever you go. Still...
It's about time to close up shop here and head out. It's better to jump before you're pushed.

The 'charm' is certainly wearing thin. Even the "nice" areas are really not that nice. They're pretty if you just sort of glance around but don't look too hard at anything. The fact that it's hosting a Super Bowl in a couple years is amazing, but we'll see how that plays out.

Great restaurants is certainly a draw to living in New Orleans, and several great places have opened just this year. Lol
I guess? Dunno, don’t get that bit

While I get that his kids are in Houston, it is one of the last places, along with Atlanta, that I would ever relocate to. You are just trading one set of problems for another, or in many cases not solving the problems at all.

Whether he is a democrat is a good question. He went to Jesuit and his niece is Amy Coney Barrett, according to web searches.

If he is a democrat, then his votes for all the councilmembers, mayors, and governors who have gradually implemented the legislation and policies that have torn this city down are problems of his own making. And in that case I say au revoir.

Agree...97% of what he writes/pontificates about is race related and i've NEVER read a word of his about just HOW the 'black culture' could possibly improve its' lot in life, all on their own...i.e. w/o govt. assistance...$/programs to no end ! Not, self-control,self-sufficiency,family values, work ethic etc.etc.etc. !!

LOL. Your posts are always so funny because despite real evidence of decline in NOLA, you can never resist posting BS. Housing listings and sales prices are falling pretty much everywhere. To wit:

Las Vegas, Nevada: 45.3% fewer listings
Phoenix, Arizona: 43.3% fewer listings
Oakland, California: 38.8% fewer listings
Seattle, Washington: 38% fewer listings
Riverside, California: 37.1% fewer listings

LINK /

Texas cities saw as much as 9.77% declines in home values.

Northshore would be a more convenient move. I would be very unhappy in Houston, it’s traffic & sprawl.

Because the Northshore has no traffic or sprawl and doesnt mirror countless Houston suburbs. (and for the record, I believe the Northshore is the best area to live in Louisiana by a wide margin).
