Captain Crozier joins a growing list of heroic men and women who have risked their careers over the last few weeks to speak out about life-threatening failures to treat the victims of this terrible pandemic. Many of them are doctors and nurses, and many of them, like Captain Crozier, have been punished. All of them deserve our deepest gratitude.

Captain Crozier is a POS.
He broke navy protocol.

On top of that he showed self to be a drama queen. Claiming deaths were certain.

Gimme a break.
To get into Navy you cannot be obese, cannot have Asthma, blood pressure, etc.
Nobody is going to die on that ship. Period.

Probably not but stranger things have happened.

NYT is only lionizing this guy bc they think it’s anti-Trump. That’s all it’s ever about.

Fixed it for you. He deserves a dishonorable discharge.

Hope calling attention to himself was worth it.

I am still waiting for someone to explain how the ship was allowed to take a port of call in Vietnam in the face of this pandemic. Did the captain have final say on this? Was he ordered to do it against his wishes? No one on that boat should have been allowed to step foot in any asian country.

People who are healthy will be just fine if they receive treatment. If they need to be on a ventilator once its out of their system they will be good. But if they don't receive treatment then their chance of dying rises.

It seems like he was concerned and felt like his people were at risk and did what he could to get them the help they needed. Sometimes you have to break the rules.

Bingo. And then the knee jerk reaction for people to call a guy who served this country for decades a POS. The only analogy I can think of to compare to the state of this country is the other day, stomach was hurting, had to shite, couldn't shite no matter how hard I pushed and then finally the damn broke loose. It's like we're in that stage right before the damn breaks loose and we just need it all to get out of our system so we can just get back to normal.

Yes, the best analogy I could come up with was to compare Republicans and Democrats to pieces of shite.

Not sure about those specific conditions, but yes, to get in initially you have to be in okay shape. After you’re in, not so much.

I used to live in Norfolk, VA - it’s home to the largest naval station in the world. There’s a big difference between SEALs and enlisted men/women. I can assure you, I’ve met plenty of people in the navy that are in terrible shape.

You do realize the navy has fatasses who have random jobs such as being a mechanic for a ship, right? Enlisted guys are for the most part in very average shape.

Captain Crozier’s heart was in the right place but he apparently panicked,Commanding Officers should never panic. This situation should never have gotten into the newspaper but should have been kept in the Navy. You don’t advertise to the world that the operational capability of a warship might be compromised.I would fear that it might make the carrier susceptible to a terrorist attack.
The Navy prosecuted several high ranking officers involved in the Fat Leonard scandal.Besides taking bribes, they were jeopardizing the security of ships by releasing dates of port calls to unauthorized and unreliable people.

Captain Crozier determines whether they pull into port or not. He could have easily canceled the port visit to protect his sailors.

Echoes of history. Theodore Roosevelt the ship's namesake did similar thing while commanding the Rough Riders. Unfortunately, stimulating attention outside the immediate organization is often what it takes to get the ball rolling. This officer was looking out for the lives of his sailors in peacetime and sought to preserve max combat power if called upon in near future. It was already publicly available info that there were infections on ship not an OPSEC issue. We've all seen health and conditions for troops neglected for years until external attention is brought to bear (burn pits, toxic mold, military housing, VA hospitals, etc..)

Yeah, frick those sailors! (Not literally)

Protocol and unquestioningly following the chain of command is way more important than caring about them! There's a good comrade.

it ALL boils down to Crozier being a registered Democrat. that's it.... that's the ONLY reason most of the mainstream media are praising and worshiping him. if he had a (R) next to his name they would be demonizing and condemning him like they do each and every person who thinks differently than them.

(directed at the thread/board and not any individual) The shite people get into and talk about with little or no knowledge of on here is a amazing and why I keep coming back.

Anyone been in boot camp or on board ship and experience the crud? Sleep with six bunk mates withing six feet, four shower stalls for a 80 plus in the sleeping quarters with mess cooks that I hate to break it to you don't have the the best hygiene, and doubt sickness can spread quick.
