"This is a historic day in New York -- one that rights the wrongs of the past by putting an end to harsh prison sentences, embraces an industry that will grow the Empire State's economy, and prioritizes marginalized communities so those that have suffered the most will be the first to reap the benefits," Cuomo said in a statement.
If it is such a great idea, then why did you wait to sign this bill until your state was in ruins and you had to do it to attract people to stay and up your tax revenue?
frick you Cuomo

It’s just ridiculous to me. The company doesn’t pay you on your time off, and it’s absolutely absurd that you can go on vacation to another state within the US, enjoy a perfectly legal product, go home and then lose your job weeks after the fact.
I agree. But from the companies perspective it’s equally absurd that someone could be high on the job screw with some equipment and disable themselves and then sue Shell for millions of dollars.
How could anyone prove if they are high on the job or high at home on the weekend? Probably a blood test but how feasible is that?

just in case some people aren’t paying attention
NY just legalized
NM legalization bill is on the governors desk
VA legalization bill will be on the governors desk shortly
OR, WA, CA, NV, CO, AK, IL, MA, MT, SD, MI, NJ, VT, ME, AZ all legal.
OK legal for all practical purposes. FL medical is full flower from dispensaries. DC is already legal to possess, rec sales coming soon.
that is 18 states out of the 50 and including the cities of LA, SF, Chicago and NYC and its metro area in NJ. Once CT and RI go next the eastern seaboard metropolis will be legal from Boston to the Philadelphia suburbs. The nation’s Capitol is legal.
tell me again what the federal hold up is...

there are now only six states out of the 50 where cannabis is fully illegal.
AL, SC, TN, KS, ID and WY

I would really like to know the real reason. I believe the president has the authority to reclassify it from a schedule 1 narcotic, and none have even taken that step. It can’t be as simple an explanation as the money law enforcement agencies would lose.

I don’t give a shite if you burn one or not, but Louisiana has bigger issues than weed to deal with and legalizing it ain’t gonna fix shite here. Except make the criminals in the legislature richer.
Within 3 years, cannabis was a billion dollar industry in our state alone. You’re an idiot.

Also becomes the first state to allow it to be smoked in public.
I sense they are already lax in enforcement.
I was walking to Alexander Hamilton's Grange house in NYC a couple years ago. Passed a guy, about 30, professionally dressed, walking down the sidewalk at 10:00 am smoking a joint with no more concern than if he was eating a Snickers. Nice.

I hate the damn paper straws there. Went to portland for a cross country meet 2 years ago. I had a sandwich while i was there with jalapenos on it and everytime i took a sip of my drink after we left the restaurant i could taste the damn jalapenos.

Louisiana should just to get a jump on all the other bassackwards southern states

The concern I have is who is allowed to grow it. Startup is cheap and cbd oil is easy to extract. Louisiana will likely pick and choose who can grow, meaning sugar cane farmers who already have deep pockets.

Big Pharma lobby. Their cash cow will be seriously damaged when you can go down the street and get some weed to help you relax and help your arthritis or whatever other pains you might have than going refill that opiate prescription

Can good weed even be grown in our climate?

The vote delayed until next week. It's passed the House three times only to die in the Senate. Looks like we get it this year finally, but who knows.

Good for NY. Marijuana should have been legalized long ago.
