New York City is careening closer to all-out financial bankruptcy for the first time since Mayor Abraham Beame ran the city more than 40 years ago, experts say.

As tax-fleeced businesses and individuals flee en masse, and city public spending surges into the stratosphere, financial analysts say Gotham is perilously near total fiscal disaster.

Long-term debt is now more than $81,100 per household, and Mayor de Blasio is ramping up to spend as much as $3 billion more in the new budget than the current $89.2 billion.

“The city is running a deficit and could be in a real difficult spot if we had a recession, or a further flight of individuals because of tax reform,” said Milton Ezrati, chief economist of Vested.

“New York is already in a difficult financial spot, but it would be in an impossible situation if we had any kind of setback.”

I've seen the lights go out on Broadway

I saw the Empire State laid low

And life went on beyond the Palisades

They all bought Cadillacs

And left there long ago

I’ve turned down jobs there because you get crushed with a city tax on top of federal and state taxes

California is bad but at least here in San Diego I don’t get hit with a city tax

Imagine how screwed they'd be if we ever reined in the Fed.

Good thing amazon didn’t move there. Now they can take that $3B they were going to give them for tax breaks and re-invest it in the community

They elected a big socialist mayor, but I’m sure that has nothing to do with it. Not at all.

Why is the government answer never "we need to tighten our belts?"

imagine if we spread out arms of the federal government randomly across American

obviously DC/Nova/Marylan would be affected the most but NYC would take a major hit

Sounds like they need to raise taxes on the wealthy and businesses

That's how they got here. That'll fix it though

We should, just so the feds aren't in a bubble.

Interior could be headquartered in Colorado Springs, Agriculture in Omaha, HHS in Atlanta, VA in San Diego, Labor in Cincinnati, etc.

Because my dumb arse crooked mayor does stuff like this:

Fast-forward to Wednesday, when the City Council was startled to discover that McCray and Team Thrive are closing in on having spent an eye-popping $900 million since the program’s inception — and nobody seems to have a clue on what.

This is what will happen if the 2020 Dem candidates win and implement their large scale taxation on the rich.
