Do you have a Costco or Sam's club near you?

I buy my tires from Tirerack. I also know how to inspect them.

16k and 12k for tires?

1.6K and 1.2K not 16K and 12K.

You forgot your period.

They are not dry rotted. Also Raggio’s in Natchitoches will repair or replace with used. Get a few more years on those.

Someone should tell that Vice Grip Garage guy.

I've seen him drive 600 miles on 30 year old tires.

Nobody is saying that is impossible.

But I have had several thousands of dollars of body and fender damage from old tires with seemingly "good tread" that delaminated and tore up the vehicle.

If the Vice grip garage guy is going to reimburse you for your body damage, then go for it.

Get some cheap Chinese tires. There's no reason to pay anywhere close to $1,600 on an old truck.

Like others are saying, do some shopping around. Costco usually has some good prices on tires and free install. Some 20" Bridgestone All Seasons with 80k mile warranty are like $1000 installed.

Pretty good price, IMO.

Buy them online, go to a tire shop and have them do it or ask how much to rent their machine for an hour and do it yourself.

In all the years I've been around different shops, I can't think of a single one that would do something like that. Just about every shop I've been to even has signs saying "No Customers Beyond This Point" to keep them out the shop area.

They aren't going to let a customer use their tire mounting and balancing machines for a rental fee.

Oh, and buy a motorcycle tire on-line, remove the wheel from your bike and bring it to a shop to mount and balance and watch how they will empty your wallet.

Shops that sell tires get kind of pissy about people buying on-line and expecting them to mount and balance the tires.

Order exactly what you want on walmart.com and have them shipped to a local Walmart for installation. Their prices are usually competive.
