I'm a Trumpster, but the tariffs are a big blow to an exporting economy

Didn’t realize this data is just for Q1, so heavily influenced by the tariffs.

Right. For a more clear explanation.

Formula: GDP = C + I + G + (X - M)

Where:

C = Consumption (household spending)
I = Investment (business capital spending)
G = Government spending
X = Exports
M = Imports

The threat of tariffs scared a lot of importers so they frontloaded their inventories in Q1 which increased "M" which lowered the GDP number.

Lowest man on the totem pole is most important as it supports the rest…

Louisiana posted the worst GDP rate in the Southeast region

And my wife doesn't understand why I don't want to buy a half million dollar house in this state right now.

Landry deserves a lot of shite but one thing he’s done an excellent job of is bringing industrial business to LA.

Not really, they've barely broken the dirt on both projects and are using a LOT of corporate welfare.

I mean JBE had a lot of "economic development wins" and maybe half of them actually hired people and actually made stuff.

Will be interesting to see this list at the end of the year.

Just an FYI the Atlanta Fed is forecasting +2.6% and the NY Fed is forecasting +1.58% for the next quarter. Everyone is forecasting a positive GDP number next quarter.

this is the problem with LA. Some of you just want to complain to complain.

Projects have to be announced, I’m sorry people can’t snap their fingers and produce 500 jobs. Even getting the investments is more than we’ve had since Covid.

Some of you just want to complain and overreact to data heavily weighted by tariffs. Let’s see this list at the end of the year.

I'm sure Jeff Landry has a plan to fix all this. Look at what he's done with insurance.

It’s tough to reach him when he’s on a Team Harvey boat everyday.

Never mind that, dahlin. Focus on what is really important. We’re about to head into LSU/Saints football, then Celebration in the Oaks, then Mardi Gras and finally Jazzfest.

Laissez les bon temps rouler.

Get rid of the state income tax. You will see Mississippi easily move past us now that they are phasing it out.

No, it’s because we’re used to this smoke & mirrors.

Big projects are announced all the time. How many of those actually materialize? How many of those actually bring the jobs they say they’re gonna bring?

This is an inevitable result of 8 years of JBE Dem leadership. And Landry probably isn’t the guy to pull us out of the mess.

Yea it’s great all these projects are in the works, but they’re still years away. A lot can happen between now and then.

Like Jindal spending tens of millions to woo IBM only for them to renege on all their promises?
