And yet, this has nothing to do with his post about Mitch lying.

The meeting planners were in NOLA for a site visit when the videos of the dudes getting attacked walking down the sidewalk were all over the news and then had their rental car broken into while here. They said "hell no".

While not a "national" size meeting/convention, my organization is holding conference in NOLA early October for about 80+ business owners , 200 + attendees, and I will add a safety topic to opening/housekeeping portion of conference. Should I be concerned for our guest/customers?

I've never had an issue in NOLA, but I consider myself street smart and don't do stupid stuff, if I'm alone. With a large group, well that's a another story.

Ole Mitch hasn't been by any of the Expressway underpasses lately.

One of many lines of bullshite in his "accomplishments." frick him and his stupid family.

How is it even possible to know that veteran homelessness is ended? Do they go around asking every bum if they are a veteran?

No, every week tens of thousands of people come to NOLA conferences. As for safety just tell them to use common sense - don't get hammered off hand grenade and run off with a prostitute you met at Tropical Isle.

The problem is crime, violent predatory crime.

You may be right about Chicago, but Atlanta and Denver, if you stay in the areas you are supposed to, you won't get beaten half to death for the 50 bucks in your pocket in broad daylight.

In new orleans, even in the "nice" area, you will.

That's the difference.

Don't be reckless and walk through the quarter at 2 pm.

It's just common sense.

Don't walk to lunch without four or more people with you at all times. Come on people, this isn't hard.

I disagree with you on Denver. There some scary transient kids that will knife you for you dispensary bag.

I live in the nice area of NOLA and NOPD along with uptown security do a good job keeping the bums and thugs out.

I would not really call the FQ the nice area.

For tourists, who are the targets.... yes that is the "nice" area.... and the fact you say it isn't the nice area proves the point everyone else here to trying to make.

There's a reason it's not the "nice" area...

Thugs beating the shite out of people, putting them in the hospital, for pocket change.

Please don't recommend that people walk around without their personal security details. That's just dangerous advice and not common sense.

Maybe you are right.... you will get 'beaten half to death' if you visit the 'nice' areas of Nola, it's inevitable, IT WILL HAPPEN!

So you live in a gated community. That's cute.

There is no "nice" part of Nola. You have million dollar houses and less than 2 blocks away it looks like a war zone.

For some, probably so. I lived a majority of my life in BR and the little brother syndrome is real for some people. Not all BR folks, mind you, but definitely for some.

This is the same kind of behavior that I was warned about 15 years ago when I would come down before moving to the city. Not a new thing for people getting mugged in the FQ, use common sense.

This is just retarded.

Mitch has turned NOLA into an indefensible hell hole of crime, but there are still areas that are nice and have minimal crime. Lakeview for example.

I wish I lived in Audubon Place or Rosa Parks place.

West Riverside neighborhood has uptown security that helps patrolling and they do a badass job. Not many gated streets uptown besides the two I just named off.
